The National Defence Applications Modeling and Simulation Conference (USMOS) is the first and only conference in the field of modeling and simulation in Turkey, and it is organized every two years by the Ministry of National Defence, the  Turkish General Staff, the  Presidency of Defence Industries, the Defence and Aerospace Industry Manufacturers Association (SASAD), and the Middle East Technical University Modeling and Simulation Center with the sponsorship of defence industry companies.

The main theme of the conference, which will be held this year November 19-20, 2019 is “Modeling and Simulation in the age of Big Data” Işık University Computer Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Erdal Çayırcı will participate as an invited speaker and will make a presentation on the Effects and Relationship of Big Data on Military Modeling and Simulation.

The conference will also include training on the Military Applications of Augmented Reality and the Military Applications of Deep Learning.

This year at the USMOS 2019 Conference, 45 academic and industrial papers evaluated by expert reviewers will be included in the program under comprehensive  titles such as Big Data, Augmented Reality, Engineering, R&D & Testing, Aviation Applications, Simulation Infrastructures, Activity Evaluation, Geographic Information Systems, Analysis & Decision Support, Conceptual Modeling, MODSİM Development Processes, and Interoperability.

A special session will also be organized for participants who would like to learn about the experiences of the NATO Modeling and Simulation Group meetings and the projects in the Group.

Additionally, representatives from the military, academia, public, and private sector will share their views during the panel on Modeling and Simulation in the Defence Industry in the Big Data Age.

Also, display areas will be arranged for companies in the conference exhibition area, so the sponsors and other companies will have the opportunity to introduce their projects and products. The conference will be held at the METU Culture and Congress Center on November 19-20, 2019. Participation in the Conference is free of charge and all events are open to the public.
