Bidding Deadline Extended in the T-LORAMIDS Programme

Date: Issue 54 - July 2014

Pursuant to the decision of the Defence Industry Executive Committee (SSIK), contract talks with CPMIEC of the Peoples Republic of China for the Long Range Air and Missile Defence System (T-LORAMIDS) Programme to be procured in providing Turkey a long range as well as a low, medium and high altitude air defence system has still not been finalized after 9 months. A statement made to the media by the SSM stated that contract negotiations with CPMIEC were continuing and that, as a project that is very important for Turkey, contract details would continue until agreed upon by both parties. The SSM made known that until the T-LORAMIDS Project contract was signed the validity of all bids would be extended until 31 August 2014.

Based on the decision of the SSIK, in the event the winning bid by CPMIEC is unsuccessful, contract negotiations with the second placed EUROSAM consortium will start and if again no agreement is reached, negotiations with the third placed U.S. Government will commence.
