Boeing announced the launch of two new educational projects with Selcuk Anatolian Technical High School – Vocational and Technical Education Center and Ege Higher Vocational School (Ege Community College). The programs underline Boeing’s support educating students and developing key skills and knowledge that will contribute to the growth of Turkey’s aerospace industry.

Boeing’s grant to Izmir Selcuk Anatolian Technical High School – Vocational and Technical Education Center will be used to build a mechanical workshop providing practical training on aircraft maintenance to 10th, 11th and 12th grade students aged 16-19.

Boeing’s program with Ege University Higher Vocational School (Ege Community College) will support its Composite Laboratory by providing convenient tools and equipment, reinforcing its activities on composite materials, manufacturing, repair and testing of composite components.

“Knowing that today’s students are the bearers of Turkey’s future, we are very pleased to support better vocational training opportunities in aerospace high-growth areas such as aircraft maintenance and composite materials,” says Bernard J. Dunn, president, Boeing Turkey and North Africa.

Sedat Yesilyagci, Director of Izmir Selcuk Anatolian Technical High School – Vocational and Technical Education Center, said, “Our target is to provide our students the opportunity of becoming qualified technicians in line with the scientific and technological developments. We would like to express our thanks to Boeing for providing support to the establishment of this workshop which will enable our 130 students to continue their education in a better facility.”

Prof. Dr. H. Semih Gunes, Headmaster of Ege Higher Vocational School (Ege Community College), said, “The equipment donated by Boeing to our Composite Laboratory will help our students to have a shorter orientation and adjustment period in their jobs. We would like to express our appreciation to Boeing in Turkey for their great support and collaboration to carry out this project.”
