Exercise MAVİ VATAN-2026 Continues

The MAVİ VATAN-2026 (BLUE HOMELAND-2026) Exercise, conducted by the Turkish Naval Forces, is ongoing between April 03-09, 2026, in the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea, and the Eastern Mediterranean under the coordination of the Turkish Navy Fleet Command. Planned as one of the largest activities of the Turkish Naval Forces Command, the exercise is being carried out with the participation of numerous assets and approximately 15,000 personnel.

In addition to the Naval Forces Command, elements from the Land Forces Command, Air Force Command, and Coast Guard Command are participating in the exercise. Within this scope, a total of 120 naval platforms (1x Amphibious Assault Ship, 12x Frigates, 4x Corvettes, 14x Fast Attack Craft, 8x Submarines, 8x Mine Countermeasure Vessels, 16x Patrol Vessels, 20x Amphibious Landing Ships, 29x Auxiliary Vessels, 5x USVs, 2x Coast Guard Ships, and 6x Coast Guard Boats), 50 air assets (5x Maritime Patrol Aircraft, 3x Utility Aircraft, 1x AB-212, 7x SH-70, 4x AH-1W, 24x UAVs/Armed UAVs, 1x Heavy Lift Transport Helicopter, 3x Utility Helicopters, and 2x Fighter Aircraft), and approximately 15,000 personnel are taking part.

The primary objectives of the exercise are to evaluate the operational command and control process of the Naval Forces Headquarters and affliated commands, to enhance the operational readiness levels of participating units, and to improve the judgement, anticipation, and decision-making capabilities of headquarters personnel and participating units in a multi-threat environment. Additionally, testing and improving interoperability procedures with other Military Branch Commands and public institutions are among the key aims of the exercise.

Within the scope of the exercise, “Operational Readiness and Live Weapon Training” activities are being conducted between 03–08 April 2026, while the “Live Firing Phase (LFP)” will take place in the Gulf of Antalya on 09 April 2026. During this phase, it is planned to conduct drifting mine neutralization, naval gunfire support, kamikaze USV attacks, as well as firings of MAM-L, CİRİT, HELLFIRE, TEMREN, SEA SPARROW missiles and associated munitions, along with AKYA torpedo firings.

According to the statement released by the Ministry of National Defence, the phase conducted today (07 April) includes Replenishment at Sea, Amphibious Assault Operations Training, Anti-Submarine Warfare Training, Detection and Disposal of Drifting Mines in the Black Sea, Air Surveillance of Contacts and Air Defense Training activities.
