Speaking at the opening program Minister Vecdi Gönül stated that overseas dependence restricted the security industry. Gönül said that he believed Nurol Teknoloji’s production of raw materials to the security industry would pave the way for similar companies. Minister Gönül noted that this opening would further strengthen the capital as the center for the security industry.


In his remarks at the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nurol Holding Mr. Nurettin Çarm?kl? stated: “The reason for its founding is to free overseas dependence in the lack of advanced technology materials and applications and to gain these for our country. As to Nurol Teknoloji’s target products, its goal is firstly to serve the defence industry, medical, machinery, mining, space and aerospace industry and other different areas. Towards this end, it will provide solutions to the lightest protection for military personnel to the complete design, development and production for the protection of the heaviest armored military vehicles. Doing this will not in any manner require overseas resources. In a similar way, by producing the advanced penetrator material found in heavy munitions again a new national opportunity will be obtained. Nurol Teknoloji has been founded on a method that we are unaccustomed to and unparallel in our country. With a strong R&D, it first developed a seed technology and later developed materials and products in its own laboratory. The equipment and systems necessary to produce these products were completely indigenously designed and made by Turkish engineers. With the products we have developed through our R&D, we hope to overcome the annual hundreds of million dollars worth of imported products with our own products for civilian use. Among these wide ranging products are cutting tools for CNC and machine workshops, diamond tipped and different metal drilling tools, advanced casting filters, catalytic convertors used in the automotive industry, ultrasonic solutions for the medical field and artificial implant materials. As can seen, by fulfilling the duties that fall on us and by undertaking responsibilities, we have combined the advanced technology materials and solutions that are country require with our advanced research capabilities and have made it available to the service of our country.”


In the visit to the facility and manufacturing location, Nurol Teknoloji General Manager Murat Sert and other company officials stated that the highest level protective ballistic vest is approximately 13 kg, whereas the same protective vest at Nurol Technology is between 7 and 9 kg. Indicating that military vehicles were previously armored by Israeli companies, the company officials said: “Countries won’t even sell the machinery and equipment used in armor technology. In our production we even manufactured the furnaces and machineries. Now all armored products are completely manufactured domestically by us. The raw materials are again obtained from domestic sources.”


Stating that they have started to receive requests for armored products from other countries, the company officials made the point that, “Countries that sell armored products to other countries won’t give their best products. In general, they will sell an older model, an armored product that they have developed before. The products we have developed are among the best in the world. For this reason we will keep the best solutions for our country because this is a strategic matter.” Company officials indicated that after the R&D work conducted by Nurol Teknoloji A.?. they will be among one of three companies in the world that will produce boron carbide used in armored products.


The specialized engineering staff at Nurol Teknoloji A.?. is strengthening their experience and their work on R&D and providing armored product solutions to changing threats and suitable to required needs.


Nurol Teknoloji A.?., with the products it has developed, provides a 4-5 kg ballistic protective vest where the standard is 6-8 kg. The highest level ballistic protective vest is approximately 13 kg, whereas Nurol Teknoloji’s product is between 7 and 9 kg.


The various clothes obtained from overseas are subject to “dimensional nano covering” that is completely developed by Nurol Teknoloji and results in more than 30% ballistic performance and as a result the weight difference provides a large benefit in its use.
