Among the companies of the Koç community, Otokar, in its traditional “Otokar from parts to the whole sub-industries gathering” that was held in Sakarya, gave a unity and solidary message to its suppliers whose majority are made up of small and medium scale enterprises in the automotive sector. At the gathering that has taken place each year since 2004, Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç, Deputy General Manager Ali R?za Alptekin, Automotive Industry Association (OSD) General Secretary Prof. Dr. Ercan Tezer, Undersecretariat for Defence Industries Industry Department Head Nuran ?nci, Small and Medium Enteprises Development Organization (KOSGEB) Consultant to the President Murat Kepir, the East Marmara Development Agency (MARKA) Representative N. Ça?atay Üstünda? and Otokar Purchasing Manager Zafer Do?ruyol in their presentations gave their assessment relating to the automotive and defence industries. The meeting drew attention to the fact that the main and sub-industries companies are a part of the whole. Emphasizing that suppliers must give importance to R&D investments and design was one of the important topics underlined in the traditional meeting. The participants stating that the main and sub-industries must act according to joint strategies realized a very productive meeting. The traditional gathering was participated by 400 automotive supply industry representatives.

“Each one of us forms a part of the whole”

In a speech delivered by Otokar’s General Manager, Serdar Görgüç pointed out that Otokar was a company that had captured sustainable growth. In order to acquire this growth it was necessary to possess and dominate technology and to create own designs and went on to underline Otokar’s relations with the sub-industries.
Görgüç noted: “Each one of us forms a part of the whole. Otokar’s success through the intense cooperation we have had over the years, in large part has to do with you our suppliers. In order to expand, forming successful associations is unavoidable. In directing its investments, Otokar gives importance not only to investing in the right company, but also in the cooperation it has formed with its suppliers in protecting the investment.” Indicating that they prefer to work together with companies that carry out Otokar’s requirements, Serdar Görgüç said: “In looking at the successful cooperations realized in the last few years, our suppliers know that those who have adopted the joint strategic principles are our priority preference. We want to thank all our suppliers, that like today always stood with us, that have worked with us selflessly, that have developed products with us, that have undertaken improvements and together with us are moving towards success.” Stating that whenever possible they acquired parts in the production stage from domestic companies, Görgüç indicated that they will toast their even further success together with the supply industry in the near future and that he believed they will continue to grow together.

In his presentation at the gathering, Otokar Deputy General Manager Ali R?za Alptekin provided information on the work they have conducted during the last period and shared Otokar’s targets. Otokar’s Purchasing Manager Zafer Do?ruyol while providing information on purchasing trends in the world and Turkey, also mentioned Otokar’s purchasing activities and expectations from the supply industry. Undersecretariat for Defence Industries Department Head Nuran ?nci shared information on small and medium scale enterprises and domestic purchases within the Defence Industry Strategic Plan. OSD General Secretary Prof. Dr. Ercan Tezer provided information on the daily developments relating to the automotive industry while KOSGEB Consultant to the President Murat Kepir gave information on the organization’s activities to the participants. The Representative for MARKA, N. Ça?atay Üstünda? shared information on the investment opportunities in the East Marmara region and state incentives.

Awards were presented by Otokar to suppliers in four different categories at the traditional gathering. “The Solution Partnership” award was presented to SEGE Ta??t Koltuklar? San. Tic. Ltd. ?ti. and PRO-LAST Profil Lastik San. Ltd. ?ti. The “Quality” award to ELATEK Kauçuk Plas. San. Ltd. ?ti. and ARISAN Vakum Plas. San. Tic. Ltd. ?ti. The “Accomodating Purchase Orders and Flexibility” award was presented to HAYES LEMMERZ Janta? Jant San. ve Tic. A.?. and TEKN?K Lider Plas. Levha San. ve Tic. Ltd. ?ti.
