SDT and Telespazio Signed a MoU for Multi Mission Satellite Data Handling

SDT and Telespazio, a joint venture between Leonardo and Thales, signed at IDEF a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to design and develop turnkey solution for multi mission satellite data handling.

Date: May 11, 2017

The agreement was signed by Sandro Fagioli, Director of the Integrated Project Team GÖKTÜRK and Turkey Projects of Telespazio and Erkan Dora Vice, General Manager SDT.

The cooperation agreement is the result of good performance of SDT in the GÖKTÜRK-1 programme where they, under a Contract with Telespazio, developed significant part of the User Ground Segment software.

Now, in the frame of an R&D project for a new generation of Multimillion Ground Segment, Telespazio intends to cooperate with SDT for the development, integration, validation and verification, of Ingestion, Data Management, Workflow Management Modules and Support Services for the Earth Observation Multi Mission User Ground Segment (EO MMUGS) Project.

The Turkish Earth observation satellite GÖKTÜRK-1 was successfully launched on December 5, 2016, from the European spaceport in Kourou, in French Guiana. This programme was built by Telespazio as prime contractor for the Undersecretariat for the Turkey Defence Industry (SSM, Savunma Sanayii Müsteşarlığı), together with local industrial partners. The GÖKTÜRK-1 is operated by the Turkish Air Force.
