Turkey’s Radar Base Arising in Gölbaşı

Minister of National Defence Mr.İsmet Yılmaz visited Aselsan’s new facilities.

Aselsan Genel Director Cengiz Ergeneman informed the Minister of National Defence on the premises in Ankara-Gölbaşı. Ergeneman underlined that the facility with the capacity sufficient to manufacture long-range and high altitude radar systems would be finished in March 2014.

Deputy Director General of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation Fikri Gönültaş, Chairman of Aselsan’s Board of Directors Necmettin Baykul and Member of the Board Hasan Canpolat and Deputy Undersecretary of Undersecretariat for Defence Industries Dr. Faruk Özlü accompanied the Minister in his visit.

Long-Range Air Defence Radars to be manufactured at this New Facility

Aselsan invested approximately 200 million USD for the Radar and Electronic Warfare Systems Facility in Gölbaşı. Radar manufacturing activities at Macunköy facility shall be transferred to this new facility in Gölbaşı as soon as the construction is accomplished.

The Radar, Electronic Warfare and Intelligence Systems R&D Center approved by the Ministry of Defence shall continue its studies in this facility as well. Over a thousand engineers and technical staff shall be working at this campus. Aselsan shall mainly design, manufacture and provide logistic support of Turkish Armed Forces’ demand of long-range air defence radars in addition to radars of all types, jammers, microwave modules and various electronic warfare gears at this facility.

Gölbaşı Campus

Radar system integration areas, microwave compound/module design and production facilities, special measurement laboratories, sensitive mechanical manufacturing facilities are being established in this new campus in order to improve the existing design/manufacturing capacities for radar and electronic warfare arena.
