Vestel Defense Showcases “Karayel” UAV at UMEX

Vestel Defense started participating in promotional activities in the region, with its participation in the 2013 Dubai Airshow fair, and again this year the dates 06-08 March 2016, displaying in particular the Unmanned Systems held for the first time in Abu Dhabi.  Manufactuers in the field of unmanned systems joined together at the UMEX (Unmanned Systems Exhibition) fair as a platform to exhibit their deep knowledge and expertise in the field of Unmanned Systems.

Vestel was the only Turkish company to participate in the exhibition held March 6 – 8,  and displayed the Karayel UAVs to visitors from all over the world.  Vestel Defense senior officials were present at the stand, visited by UAE Defense Minister and UAE Armed Forces representatives as well as delegations from Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.

At the fair, Vestel Defense, held a series of meetings with target countries and defense companies.  Karayel, as a focused product for Vestel at this fair, especially for the UAE, highlighted the fact that the work can be done in cooperation with countries in the region and Karayel can be adapted to meet the needs of countries.  During meetings, company officials emphasized the studies that have been done to integrate various types of ammunition to Karayel, and also raised awareness that since 2003 efforts have been made by Vestel in the field of UAVs, focusing on studies and developing capability in this area.  The multipurpose platform, "Bora" UAV also received considerable interest among the company’s products in the exhibition.

During the fair, while meeting with various companies located in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, topics were addressed regarding Joint-Development and co-production planning was done prospectively.

Among Vestel Defense’s exports goals, the Middle Eastern and North African countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, and countries like the UAE and Qatar. Vestel Defense, especially in this market, aims toward joint development, joint production and the procurement of services.

Also during the fair "Karayel" unmanned aerial system’s up-to-date information on flights in the operational area were provided.  Karayel performed more than 1,100 hours of total flight duty with 600 hours in the region dominated by the severe winter conditions, including in extreme weather conditions.  Karayel, with undertaking difficult tasks, has the advantages of having 3 backups of critical systems and de-icing capability.
