The contract, regarding the development of a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAV System for the reconnaissance requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces, became effective on 24 December 2006.
The Turkish MALE UAV (TIHA)System will consist of air vehicles,Ground Control Station, Ground Data Terminal, Automatic Take-off and Landing System, Transportable Image Exploitation System, Remote Video Terminal and various Ground Support Equipment.
The indigenous system will be designed and developed by TAI. Many Turkish companies will take place in the program as sub contractor. The
requirement preview and conceptual design phases of the program successfully completed, whereas preliminary design activities are ongoing.
