Defence Industry Executive Committee Meeting: Significant decrees in Turkish Procurement Programs
The Turkish Defence Industry’s Executive Committee, has been gathered under the leadership of the prime minister on December 5, 2007 in order to discuss the issues that have been in its agenda and to decree about them

Undersecretariat for Defence Industries had been authorized in order to sign contracts with contractor companies of the below mentioned projects of which evaluation activities had been completed.In that context, in Electro-Optical (EO) Reconnaissance and Surveillance Satellite System (GOKTURK) Project, It had been decreed to continue the negations with Telespazio from Italy, OHB from Germany and EADS Astrium from United Kingdom and be ready for submittal to the next Executive Committee Meeting.It has been decreed to start to contract negations with the following companies: Underwater/above Water Survelliance and Detection System for Naval Bases Project with Aselsan A.Ş.; in Link 16 Data Communication Project with STM A.Ş. and Viasat; in Radar Command Control Center Modernization Project with Aydın Yazılım A.Ş.; in Radar System Modification Project with Havelsan Teknoloji ; in Human Resources System Project with STM A.Ş. ; in Remote Electronic Support Ability Project on the Land Forces platform with Aselsan A.Ş. ; in 30 Bed Mobile Surgical Hospital Project with Gama A.Ş. ; in 25 Ton Coast Guard Fast Patrol Boat Project with Yonca Onuk and in Pengiun Missile Systems For The Seahawk Helicopters with The Norwegian company Kongsberg.
It has been decreed to cancel the current tender regarding the procurement of General Purpose Helicopters. Instead, it has been decided to start negotiations with Sikorsky and AgustaWestland on a production model based on long period cooperation within the context of procuring general purpose helicopters which Turkish Armed Forces and the other public institutions need.
Finally, It has been decreed to launch new projects under the SSM’ s responsibility. These projects are: The MODERN Turkish Infantry Rifle and Machine Gun Project , AMPHIBIC Bullet Proof Communication Work Equipment Project, TANK Carrier Trailers Project, AY CLASS Sub Marine Electronic System Modernization Project, YAVUZ CLASS CORVETT Mid Live Span Modernization Project, USKUNA Training Ship Main Equipment Supplies Project, SUPPLY AT SEA Support Ship Project, TURKISH SHIP TF 2000 The First Turkish Corvette Project and Mi 17 HELICOPTER Depot Level Maintenance & Repair Project.
