In order to increase the troop operational capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces in regions where counter terrorism operations are conducted intensively, within the scope of the 529 Tactical Wheeled Vehicle (TTA-2) procurement program launched by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM), the final signatures were given on 8 August following the conclusion of the negotiations between SSM and BMC.

As part of the program that was decided to proceed in accordance with the Local Development Project Model, the improved new Kirpi 4x4 MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicles to be procured will be equipped with various configurations and capabilities. In this respect, these new generation vehicles are planned to be equipped with remoted-controlled weapon systems and also to be used as Explosive Material/Suspected Substance Detection and Destruction Vehicles, Mine and Improvised Explosive Device Detection and Destruction Vehicles.
