Who We Are

DEFENCE TURKEY has been created by DT Medya as an English language magazine in Turkiye and the magazine is the information platform for the decision making mechanism of procurement circles and readers to provide a forum of technical information for the fast developing and expanding defence industrial activities, scientific breakthroughs, ongoing projects and current programmes in Turkiye, latest news of Turkish authorities and Turkish Defence Industry, interviews with senior military leaders, officials, executive company representatives and experts.

On the other hand DEFENCE TURKEY is also a bilateral information platform to the Turkish military and defence officials, Turkish decision makers, procurement executives and Turkish defence industry members on the developments of international defence industries, capabilities and technologies. Within this scope, it serves Turkish defence industry experts through detailing and reporting on international activities in the defence and security field.

Defence Turkey is distributed to Turkiye and 82+ countries. Defence Turkey is delighted to be a unique position amongst professional publications as a bimonthly magazine devoted to providing news on Turkish and Global Defence Industries in cooperation with the Armed Forces and the Procurement Authorities, exclusively in English.

Born in Istanbul in March 1976, İbrahim SÜNNETÇİ graduated with Honors from Bilkent University, Faculty of Humanities and Letters, Department of English Language and Literature (ELIT) in May 2000. İbrahim began his professional career in September 2000 as an Assistant Editor at SAVUNMA VE HAVACILIK (Defence & Aviation) Magazine. From September 2000 to October 2001, he served in this role, editing articles, preparing the magazine's "Industry File" pages, and performing English/Turkish translations. During this period he also contributed to the preparation of the bilingual (Turkish and English) 15th Anniversary Book of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). In November 2001 he began his compulsory military service in the Turkish Land Forces, serving as a Tank Platoon Commander (Second Lieutenant). Following four months of training at the Armored Units School and Training Division Command in Etimesgut, Ankara, he was assigned to the 54th Mechanized Brigade Command in Karaağaç, Edirne. After completing his military service in March 2003, he continued working at SAVUNMA VE HAVACILIK (S&H) Magazine as Defence Editor. İbrahim SÜNNETÇİ was promoted to Chief Editor in October 2014 and to Editor-in-Chief in May 2016. Due to a dispute between the Turkish and German partners, S&H Magazine officially ceased publication in March 2018. Upon the kind invitation of Ms. Ayşe AKALIN and Mr. Cem AKALIN, İbrahim SÜNNETÇİ joined the Defence Turkey Magazine family in May 2018. Since then, he has served as Senior Editor and Lead Writer at Defence Turkey Magazine. Over the past 20 years, İbrahim SÜNNETÇİ has published English-language articles in Military Technology and Naval Forces magazines of the Mönch Group, as well as in European Security & Defense (ESD) magazine. These articles have had a significant impact in the field by offering in-depth analyses and valuable insights into the Turkish Defence and Aerospace Industry. Since July 2010, İbrahim SÜNNETÇİ has been living in Istanbul and contributing to S&H (until March 2018) and DEFENCE TURKEY Magazines (since May 2018) from his home office. However, he regularly visits the Ankara office of DEFENCE TURKEY Magazine and attends defence and aerospace events held both in Turkey and abroad on behalf of the magazine.

Cem Doğut was born in Bursa and lives in Istanbul. He developed an interest in aviation and scale plastic modeling at an early age. During this period, he received glider training at the Turkish Aeronautical Association. Photography has been a special interest of his since his youth, and he turned this hobby into a profession by starting freelance photography in 2010. In addition to his work as a author of "Defence Turkey Magazine", he works with international aviation magazines. His photographs and articles have been published in both local and international publications. He is an accredited journalist by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey.
