Over the last twenty years, Developing capabilities, original-design systems and products of the Turkish Defense Industry have carved out a different and significant place for themselves in the international platforms within the framework of participation in multinational projects and joint programs and collaborations carried out with the leading firms in the world defense industry. Significant developments in the R&D activities in the direction of Turkish policy have enabled Turkish firms to open up to the world with a bold and new marketing vision harboring a new enthusiasm. As a result of this new policy, Turkish defence industry has evolved with a challenging dynamism With this dynamic vision, all parties of the defense industry have been taking part in major projects as a competitor or as a business partner within a common synergy together with the developed defense industries of the world. It has diversified its array of products almost in all sectors and increased its capability of the industrial base. In consequence of these new policies adopted amidst the changing global defence environment, Turkish Defence Industry?s actual size and capacity has increased significantly. As of 2010, Turkish defence turnover has reached 2,73 billion dollars while defence exports reaching a level of 634 million dollars.

At the end of the first decade of the 21st century, as everyone may easily notice, our world continues to go through a comprehensive and multi-dimensional process of transformation and change, named globalization. As a conclusion of globalization, multinational activities have taken significant place in world?s agenda.

Within this concept, It is obvious that ASD, AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe has a great role focused on joining forces and enhancing the competitive development of the Aeronautics, Space, Defence and Security Industry in Europe in partnership with European institutions and Member associations.


We are honored to organize AeroSpace and Defence Association of Europe ? ASD 2011 Annual Convention in Istanbul. I believe the outcome of this convention will be fruitful for all participating parties.
