A taste of Cyber Security

The Information Security Association organized a “Cyber Security Expert Training Camp” at the Gölbaşı Campus of Gazi University on 24-28 August 2015 with the cooperation of Gazi University and Information Security Academy (BGA) and by the contribution of Havelsan. At the end of the programme, that was held to bridge the skill gap of cyber security experts in Turkey and to increasing the capacity, the successful participants were awarded certificates.
985 students registered in the bachelor’s degree, post graduate and doctorate programmes of 37 universities, applied to the training programme and 28 selected students were invited.
With its comprehensive content including cyber-attacks and defence techniques, the training programme, organized with Havelsan, displays its capacities in cyber security and cloud computing technologies and offers support to the youth on all occasions, it was a major step for young people that may consider becoming experts in the aforementioned fields. In addition to the intensive training activities, the practical outputs of the training were tested through various contests held amongst the participants at night throughout the programme.
The successful participants were awarded with certificates at the end of the training that was held in order to fulfill an essential skill requirement in cyber security. General Manager of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation OrhanAkbaş and Havelsan General Manager and CEO Mr. Ahmet Hamdi Atalay attended the closing and certificate ceremony held on 27 August 2015. Following his speech at the ceremony, Atalay was granted a thank you plaque by the President of Gazi University Mr. Süleyman Büyükberberfor their support.
