Aselsan Continues to Expand in Global Markets
The factory established jointly by Aselsan and King Abdullah II and Design & Development Bureau (KADDB) Investment Group (KIG) and to produce border line security equipment for Jordan Armed Forces and the countries in the region, was opened by the King of Jordan Abdullah II. Mr. Hasan Kemal Yardımcı, Deputy of Turkish National Defence Minister and his accompanying team as well as the chairman of the Board of Directors of Aselsan, Dr. Hasan Canpolat and Mr. Celalettin Döver, member of Aselsan Board of Directors attended the opening ceremony on behalf of Turkey, of the Aselsan Middle East company, located in Amman, is an electronic and electro optic production facility.
In the speech he made during the opening, Mr. Hasan Kemal Yardımcı, Deputy of Turkish National Defence Minister said, “We are here for the opening of company with a high technology, of which we are proud of. In order to reach higher trade figures domestic/resident production and technology transfers can be performed.”
Dr. Canpolat: “We will continue to expand in global markets”
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aselsan, Dr. Canpolat stating that the facility is not established only for the Jordanian market but also for the regional market, spoke as “This is a beginning, in time we will be gaining other abilities. We will be opening to the whole Middle East and Africa by software based systems and electronic cards production. Considering the relationships of Jordan with the entire Arab countries, it is clear that this is the most suitable point for this.”
Dr. Canpolat, pointing out that they will be investing similarly in other regions and that they will emphasize foreign investments made an evaluation as; “We will continue to expand in global markets using this method. Jordan is a step in our residence in global markets.”
King Abdullah II, after cutting the ribbon to open the facility, examined the facilities. While his picture was taken with the facility personnel, night vision binoculars produced by Aselsan Middle East were presented to him. King Abdullah left the facility after signing the memory book.
Technology Transfer from Aselsan to Jordan
Joint investment/ Venture Company named “Aselsan Middle East PSC LTD” was established with the objective of producing devices and systems for the Jordanian and Middle East market, with a capital of 2.000.000 Jordan Dinars where 51% belongs to KIG and 49 % to Aselsan.
In the Aselsan Middle East factory donated with latest technology, located at the Jordan KADDB Industry Park, production is realized by technicians and engineers from Jordan, using technology transferred from Turkey. There are production and test lines of night and thermal vision devices, environmental conditions laboratories, measuring and calibration laboratory, material storage and packing lines at the factory. Electronic card production and test line is planned to be established in the first half of 2015 as well.
At the initial stage, Monocular Night Vision Devices, Night Vision Weapon Binoculars and Anti–Tank Warfare Thermal sightings production has started within the Company. In addition, the company, while realizing the production of the SAGER Thermal Image System, designed especially for Jordan Armed Forces and which is unique in the world, has also signed the first export agreement related to this product.
At the established facility, in the second stage, products and systems commenced in optic and electro-optic fields are diversified in order to reach the primary target of entering various platform modernization activities like communication systems.
Concurrent to these activities, R&D activities will also commence with the aim to enter mutual design and development projects.
