Aselsan- Impressive Space Capabilities
Aselsan attaches great importance to the acquisition of space technologies and considers it as one of the most significant strategic targets. High technology investments and qualified personnel are mostly focused in the area of satellite payloads. A diverse set of projects in the areas of payloads, communications and control subsystems and equipment for telecommunications, reconnaissance/ surveillance and navigation satellites and near space platform systems have been undertaken by Aselsan. The overarching principles of these projects are conducting systems engineering, project management, system/subsystem/equipment design, payload design & production, payload integration & test services, software development, electrical and mechanical ground support equipment design & production using national resources in a unique fashion. Operations that aim to develop necessary infrastructure for aforementioned activities are ongoing. Investments on two Thermal Vacuum Chambers, 2200x2500 mm and 1000x700 mm in diameter respectively, have been realized with the utmost purpose of testing these unique payloads and equipment under space conditions. These chambers are located in clean room areas. Aselsan has two clean rooms dedicated for space; one of which is Class 100.000 compliant, 500m2 payload level Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) room and the other is Class 10.000 compliant, 600m2 space grade equipment manufacturing and qualification room.

Aselsan has taken important steps to convey its knowledge and experience to the space platforms by introducing indigenous products and system solutions. Aselsan is a partner in national satellite projects such as EHF On-board Processing Satellite Payload Project, TÜRKSAT-6A Indigenous Communication Satellite Project, GÖKTÜRK-1 Surveillance and Reconnaissance Satellite Project and GÖKTÜRK-3 SAR Satellite Project. Last year, Aselsan also started a CubeSat Project in order to combine the knowledge and expertise of universities and related industrial entities..
