DAKA “Torpedo Counter Measure Systems’’ will Protect Submarines

Dr. Hasan Canpolat, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Aselsan, thanked those who have contributed, stating that they have undersigned a very important success. Dr.Canpolat, expressed that Aselsan works with the aim to nationalize all the technologies required by the Turkish army ranging from  the heights of  space down to beneath bodies of  water. Dr.Canpolat, stating that the TAF (Turkish Armed Forces) has become more powerful  than before with the technologies produced in Aselsan, finished his words saying “ May it be well and prosperous for our country.” 
Aselsan General Manager Mr. Faik Eken said that the Acoustic Torpedo Countermeasure Decoy System for Submarines (DAKA) Project is a very important milestone for other acoustic projects. Mr. Eken expressed that they have acquired to provide for the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces in without being dependent to outsiders as a mission for themselves in his speech. Mr. Eken, stating that Aselsan has started  work in the submarine field in the year 2006, recorded that they have made crucial investments in the submarine acoustics field apart from the DAKA Project as a firm, gaining an important accumulation in this field. 
Mr. Eken, pointing out to the importance of the DAKA Project from the aspect of the first national torpedo counter measure system said, “It is also a very important milestone for the other acoustic projects.”
CDM Technology and Coordination Assistant Brigadier General Şaban Umut underlined that the DAKA project deserves the title National. Brigadier General Umut, saying “DAKA, was started as an R&D project under the coordination of NDM. Stating that the current wars are weighed on technology and that those developing technology are superior, Brigadier General Şaban Umut said “It is very important for our country to develop and produce the systems our army needs domestically.” 
Colonel Necmi Yıldırım, Naval Forces Command Electronic Systems Department Head, pointing out in his speech that the DAKA programme is a project that will enhance the future of the submarines, which are of the most important weapons from the aspect of secrecy and impact said “We have another national ability in the field of “torpedo counter measure systems” which is still a closed field in the international arena.” 
The first torpedo counter measure system
DAKA Project started on April 15th, 2008 and was finalized on October 1st, 2014. Under the coverage of the project, 280 acoustic jammer and decoy for AY class submarines and 360 for Preveze and Gür Class submarines were produced. 
With DAKA as the first and acoustic system with the largest dimension of Turkey nationally, Indigenous Torpedo Counter Measure System was developed. With this technology achieved, Turkey is among the few countries that can produce “Torpedo Counter Measure System”. Under the coverage of the programme, critical technologies like high speed underwater vehicle design, ceramic production, heat battery with mechanic firing and electrical firing design and production, design and production were adhered to in Turkey. Other underwater projects having very important information accumulation and infrastructure have also been given significant attention.
