Deliveries Continue for Low Altitude Air Defense Modernized Towed Gun

Deliveries as part of the 35 mm Air Defense System Modernization and Particle Ammunition Project executed by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) continue. Regarding the ongoing deliveries, SSB President Prof. İsmail DEMİR made the following statement:

“Our activities to strengthen our layered air defense system continue. Within the scope of our 35 mm Air Defense System Modernization and Particle Ammunition Project, we continue to deliver the Fire Control Device and Modernized Towed Gun systems produced by our domestic and national industry to the Turkish Armed Forces with the main contractor Aselsan. The Fire Control Device (FCD) Set offers a low-altitude air defense solution centered on state-of-the-art technology in order to effectively provide air defense of critical facilities and stationary military units. The FCD system has the capacity to undertake the control of up to 3 Modernized Towed Guns simultaneously as well as 1 HİSAR-A Missile Launching System. Such systems, together with 35 mm Airburst Ammunition, perform air defense with high efficiency and effectiveness against current air threats, including air-to-surface missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. 35 mm Modernized Towed Gun

With the modernization activities performed, all electronic subcomponents of the 35 mm Towed Air Defense Guns in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory are modernized and such guns are brought into use as an effective low altitude air defense weapon using state-of-the-art technology. Within the scope of modernization activities, the guns become capable of firing Airburst Ammunition and the firing and command control of the guns are achieved by the Fire Control Device (FCD).

35 mm Modernized Towed Gun (Fire Control Device Set) Features:

2 x 550 rounds/min (1100 rounds/min in total) firing rate with 2 x 35 mm air defense guns 

3 different ammunition types: 35 mm Airburst Ammunition, HEI, TP-T 

Integrated Power Supply Unit 

Improved User Interface 

Hardware operating with low voltage power supply 

Battery pack supporting short term operation when power supply unit is shut off  

Capable of running with external power supply 

Servo control, actuator, power distribution and fire control subsystems for superior performance against modern air threats such as air-to-surface missiles, cruise missiles and UAVs
