DSEI 2015: Turkey was Represented with 14 Defence Industry Companies

Under the coordination of the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries and Defence Industry Exporters’ Association, Turkey attended the DSEI 2015 event in which the high-tech products and systems related to sea, land and air security and defence industry were displayed for three days in an area of 830 square meters with a total of 14 companies namely TAI, Havelsan, Roketsan, MKEK, BMC, Dearsan, Denar, FIGES A.S., Kilim Group, Menatek, Otokar, OSSA, YDS and Transvaro. 
At DSEI 2015, Modern Infantry rifle MPT-76 and domestic ammunition were displayed at the MKEK stand, SOM-J cruise missile, 2.75” Laser Guided “Cirit” Missile, Anti-tank missile UMTAS-UL and missile launcher systems were demonstrated at the stand of Roketsan and Otokarunveiled  “Arma” 8x8 Armored Combat Vehicle along with the Mizrak-30 turret system it developed for armored combat vehicles in 2011. 
On the first day of the event, Mr. Abdurrahman Bilgiç, Turkey’s Ambassador to London, visited the Turkish stand represented by Dr. Celal Sami Tüfekçi, Deputy Undersecretary for Defence Industries. Dr. Celal Sami Tüfekçi, Deputy Undersecretary for Defence Industries and Ambassador Mr. Abdurrahman Bilgiç extended a brief statement to the press following their visits to the stands.
Deputy Undersecretary for Defence Industries Tüfekçi mentioned that the DSEI event hosted important opportunities for a country that accomplished a leap forward in the defence industry such as Turkey and added, “We attach great importance to this event as Turkey. Turkey is presently exerting efforts to open to foreign markets. In this sense, I believe that this event is a great opportunity to sign new contracts and establish new business partnerships”. 
Mr. Abdurrahman Bilgiç, Turkey’s Ambassador to London said, “As of 2014, the volume of trade between Turkey and UK reached to the level of 16 billion USD. We wish to increase this figure to 19 billion USD in the upcoming period. Our final aim is to carry this cooperation to third countries together with the UK”. 
During the biyearly DSEI event that has a major role in developing strategic and technological cooperation between the participant countries;the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries, Roketsan and Lockheed Martin signed a contract on SOM-J missiles while Roketsan and Thales UK made a cooperation agreement on missile sensor technologies for the future.
The organization gathering the defence industry professionals and users hosted 1,500 international participants from 121 countries and welcomed thousands of visitors this year. The participants seized the opportunity to develop international cooperation at the DSEI 2015 where the South Korea, Brazil, India, Australia, USA, UK and Turkey had stands.
