FNSS and Tencate Combine it Forces
FNSS and TenCate have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a cooperation project to explore the integration of TenCate ABDSTM active blast countermeasure system on selected FNSS armored vehicles.
ABDSTM is a cost effective, space efficient, bolt-on, lightweight system that can significantly improve occupant survivability by protecting combat and tactical ground vehicle crews from the destructive effects of insurgent mines, roadside bombs and improvised explosive devices (IED’s).
FNSS has an extensive product line consisting of a universal family of tracked and wheeled armored combat vehicles and combat utility vehicles. It already supplies the armed forces of Turkey and many allied
nations.
A prototype mock-up of the ABDSTM active blast countermeasure system has been integrated into a FNSS Pars 6x6 armored wheeled vehicle being displayed at IDEF’15. Next planned steps will include integration concept studies, verification tests and prototype development.
The TenCate ABDSTM active blast countermeasure system can save lives and significantly reduce mission-compromising injury by minimizing the transfer of mine blast energy witnessed by the mounted crew. The system efficiently manages the launch acceleration of the vehicle, its flight and the ensuing fall back to earth.
