The T625 GÖKBEY Utility Helicopter, one of the flagship projects of Turkish aviation, has reached another significant milestone. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu presented the Civil Type Certificate, covering the aircraft, engine, propeller design and performance of the GÖKBEY Helicopter, which was issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, to Secretary of Defence Industries Haluk Görgün during an official ceremony. The event, held at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, was also attended by Director General of Civil Aviation Kemal Yüksek and TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Uraloğlu stated: “TUSAŞ’s journey toward independence, which began in 1973 in two small hangars, has today been crowned with world-class projects ranging from KAAN to HÜRJET, and from ANKA to ATAK-2, within massive facilities spanning 4 million square meters. Today, we are witnessing yet another peak of this remarkable journey. Originally designed for civilian purposes, the T625 GÖKBEY has now obtained its type certificate from our Directorate General of Civil Aviation following an intensive process spanning nearly 10 years, which began with the application submitted on March 23, 2016.

More than 600 technical meetings, over 180 certification tests, approximately 18,000 flight test points, more than 800 compliance documents, as well as the validation flights conducted in February 2026; all these efforts were completed in full compliance with international requirements, particularly CS-29 standards. This process was carried out entirely in a digital, evidence-based, and transparent manner through the KDM-ERP Certification Module developed under the Public Transformation Model. As a result, Türkiye has become one of the very few countries in the world capable of managing aircraft certification end-to-end on a fully digital and national platform.

With this certification, Türkiye has joined the ranks of a select group of nations capable of designing, manufacturing, and certifying civil rotary-wing aircraft independently, without reliance on foreign authorities. We now proudly place our flag alongside those of well-established aviation ecosystems such as the United States, European Union countries, Canada, and Brazil.”
