İŞBİR Provides a Significant Contribution in Land and Naval Projects by its Generators

Defence Turkey: Could you please give some brief information about İŞBİR Electric Industry Co. products?

I believe that İşbir has been a school of generator production in Turkey. The production of alternators and technological knowledge has been formed in İşbir and the majority of qualified workforce in the sector have been trained by İşbir.

We combine our experience with contemporary technology. We are a large company and the only one of its kind in the country operating primarily in diesel generator sets, static and dynamic frequency converters, mobile dual sets for civil and military applications, diesel generator sets for ships used in coast guard boats and tug boats, and coach generators used by the Turkish State Railways.

Işbir meets customer demands by producing all types and models of diesel generator sets together with their alternators up to 2000 kVA power, thus offering single source total energy solutions. All Isbir generators are the products of Turkish engineers and Turkish workers.

Defence Turkey: Could you please enlighten us about your ongoing projects and programmes ?

İşbir, an establishment of Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, provides a significant contribution to the Turkish Defence industry by its special products. Our Marine-type generators, and synchronous groups were successfully utilized in the major naval programmes such as Milgem and New Type Patrol Boat.

In order to meet the requirements of Turkish Navy within Milgem Project, 4 units 750 KVA marine generator sets were manufactured by İŞBİR for 2 ships. Milgem is the first warship of Turkey produced entirely by Turkish engineers and workers.

Within the Navy Patrol Boat Project to meet Turkish Navy’s requirements 16 sets of 2x325 kVA marine generator groups are produced by İşbir as well. The project is planned to continue until 2014.

Besides, we delivered 3 units of 29 units within the framework of ADOP (Fire Support Automation System) Project. Within the JEMUS Gendarmerie Integrated Communications Systems Project , 21 sets production of 162 sets were fulfilled by İşbir.

Defence Turkey:. Could you please inform us about your activities on the international markets?

I have to note that our aim is to continue our contribution not only to Turkish markets but also on international markets. We have some activities in IRAQ, S. Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan. Our priority is to expand our market in the other Caucasian, Far East and African countries.

Defence Turkey: What are your R&D activities?

We began alternator production under the license of Hitzinger and continued the production until 1984 with this license. Today we are in competitive and reputable position among our competitors in the market by our own designed alternators. We can make alternator production automatically up to 150 kVA and manually up to 2000 kVA within special winding machine.

We manufacture our own design alternators:

Marine type alternators (Milgem, New Type Patrol Boat, Coast Guard boats, etc.).

Military Type Alternators (TASMUS, HERIKKS, Jemus, etc.).

300-400 Hz Alternator (EHTES, etc.).

Variable Speed Alternator (ASEP, etc.).

Car alternator (TÜVASAŞ Turkey, TÜVASAŞ Iraq)

DC Alternator (MILKAR)

Low-Speed Alternator

R & D activities of these alternators that I mentioned were accomplished and production phase has been initiated. In addition, one of the ongoing R & D activities is on Silent Generator.

We focused on improving our capabilities. Therefore, the Research & Development, mechanization and modernization activities have been accelerated.

By our gained knowledge, engineering expertise and production technology, We plan to manufacture various alternators in order to meet all requirements of the market.

Defence Turkey: How do you assess your future plans and strategies?

I have to state that one of our focusing point in our future plans is to increase R&D activities which strengthens our technological competences in and around Turkey.

Moreover, one of our priority in our future strategic plans is to expand our presence in Caucasian, Far East and African countries and increase our export activities in our recent markets and new markets.
