M-D2: Acting in Recovery, Recycling and Disposal of Energetic/ industrial Wastes or Side Products
Company of qualified garbagemen
M-D2 was established in 2005 as an engineering company acting in recovery, recycling and disposal of energetic/ industrial wastes or side products. During last two years, it expanded its design capacity for provision of special purpose equipment. M-D2 is serving both to civil and defence industry. This dual activity increases the quality of our systems. Safety is very important in defense industry, while civil sectors are looking for eco-friendly and low energy consuming systems. Its design is always a combination of these two aspects: Low Energy Consuming, Eco-friendly and Safer (LECES) Systems.
Completed projects
Wood box incinerator: For disposal of ammunition boxes impregnated with PCP. Energy is used for steam production; dioxin and furan limitations are met.
Static furnace: For disposal of composite fuels, gun powders, TNT, RDX and plastic mines. Self-sustaining in terms of heat consumption (no continuous burner heating). Fulfills the environmental regulations; especially NOx limitation is fulfilled.
Conversion of Melanj: 1100 ton of Melanj located in Uzbekistan was converted to an environmentally benign product in 10 months. Process was conducted in a mobile system. Storage tanks were cleaned and recovered for further use.
Ammunition Disposal System: Ammunitions from 5,65 to 20 mm, as well as fuzes and explosive materials are disposed. Basic equipment are: rotary furnace, post combustor, heat exchangers and filters. Waste energy is recovered to supply furnaces and to decrease fuel consumption. Fuel consumption is 25-30% less than that of similar ones.
Debulleting system: Ammunitions between 7,62 to 20 mm can be de-bulleted automatically. Especially de-bulleting of 20 mm is critical since these rounds damage rotary disposal furnaces very quickly and cause large expanses. The system separates cartridges, bullets and gun powders in separate locations. Recovery of lead containing bullets reduces energy consumption of the system as well as the contamination of environment by lead evaporation.
Recovery of alcohol mixtures: Low economic value side product (alcohol/water mixture) is dehumidified by pervaporation process to produce expansive pure alcohol. Energy consumption of the process is much less than distillation, also it is effective for azeotropic mixtures. The project is partially supported by Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). Pilot plant has been completed and tested.
Mass CG: Equipment for determining missiles’ center of gravity with high accuracy.
Nozzle Bearing Test Equipment: During burning of a rocket motor temperature and pressure around the bearings of nozzle increases. Bearings are subjected to radial and axial forces. All these parameters are simulated in a single equipment. This equipment give chance to designer to test his design without using rocket motors.
Six-Component Thrust Stand: The system measures thrust forces in three coordinate during the static firing of rocket motor. In addition, the measurement system can calibrate all load cells on stand automatically. The purpose of calibration is to determine the first-order between axial, laterial and vertical load cells.
