Rockwell Collins Offers Long-Term Partnership to Turkey
Defence Turkey: Mr. Alber, first of all thank you very much for this interview. Could you please inform us about Rockwell Collins and its capabilities and products?
Let me first thank you for the opportunity to share information about Rockwell Collins with your readers.
Our mission is to serve both military and commercial markets with innovative communication and aviation electronic solutions. We are offering a broad portfolio covering flight deck avionics, cabin electronics, networked communications, simulation and training, and information management as well as a service and support network that crosses more than 150 countries.
On the government side of our business, the company is highly focused on bringing customized solutions that enable military forces to safely and successfully complete their missions. Let me give you some examples of our capabilities.
Our avionics and communications systems are on board many military transport aircrafts, fighters, helicopters and UAVs in service around the world.
We also supply a full range of advanced networking solutions that instantly connect military personnel with the information they need and help them make better decisions faster.
In the space domain, we are a global leader in satellite navigation receivers and space wheels.
Leveraging our strengths in avionics and communications systems development, we can deliver training solutions spanning the entire training life cycle, from instructional systems design through fully integrated, high-fidelity simulators.
In addition, our Service Solutions organization delivers Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of Rockwell Collins and non-Rockwell Collins products, as well as performance based logistics, recertified engine and airframe parts, and global asset management.
In summary, we offer a broad range of innovative and trusted government systems and services that can be tailored to meet specific customers’ needs.
Defence Turkey: Could you please enlighten us about your unique strengths and your expansion in international markets?
First, our successful balanced business model between military and commercial markets enables our company to enhance the capabilities of our systems and extend product viability while optimizing development costs.
As an example, our Pro Line Fusion flight deck initially designed for commercial aviation is now also used for military missions. It provides an advanced intuitive human machine interface and offers unprecedented levels of situational awareness.
Second, our ability to understand customer requirements and deliver customized solutions to solve their specific problems is significantly contributing to our international growth. One of the company’s strategic priorities is to increase penetration of international markets. Last year, 43% percent of the company’s annual revenues came from international sales and we expect this will grow to 50 percent by the end of the decade. During the last ten years, Rockwell Collins has heavily invested in its international markets – Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Americas. This strong international focus allows us to meet local customer requirements with optimal efficiency and agility.
Defence Turkey: Could you please inform us about your previous activities in Turkey that you have performed over the years?
Rockwell Collins has been a provider of Government Systems solutions in Turkey for several decades. In cooperation with the Turkish Industry, we contributed to several programs including avionics modernization, helicopter and UAV platforms, navigation, data links, and simulation. For many of these programs, we also benefited from the expertise of Delta Electronics, our sales representative based in Ankara.
Defence Turkey: Could you please enlighten us about your strategy in Turkey and your activities or plans with Turkish Defence industry companies?
Our approach is to go beyond existing business relations with Turkish Defence industry companies in order to contribute to the ongoing expansion of Turkey’s defence and security capabilities in Turkey and beyond. We are currently evaluating long-term partnerships that would be beneficial to all parties and are aiming to propose industrial cooperation agreements in several fields.
Defence Turkey: What will be your vision for the next decade?
Our goal is to stay very close to our customers in our market space and continue to heavily invest in R&D to advance our technologies. But it’s not just about having the best technology at any costs. It’s about providing the best value within budget constraint. It’s also about sustaining a high level of operational performance so that our customers and partners around the world know they can trust and rely on us. This has been and will continue to be our motto for the years to come.
