Targeting to be among the top 50 firms that provide direction to the global defence industry, Roketsan is realising significant progress in Long Range Air and Missile Defence Systems.
Founded in 1988 with the mission of serving national defence with rocket and missile systems, Roketsan is advancing with sound steps towards building an effective air defence system against potential threats with the first steps taken in 2007 with the Long Range Air and Missile Defence Project (T-LORAMIDS).
The T-LORAMIDS Procurement Process
In the Request for Proposal (TÇD) issued in 2009 for the T-LORAMIDS Project, China, Italy, France, the United States and Russia gave proposals. Roketsan was selected as the sub-contractor for the missile and launcher systems by the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) within the coverage of this Project. During this period the MBDA firm put forth a bid during the tender with the Aster 30 System. As a result of the evaluation undertaken,  the EUROSAM Group came in second in the tender.
Joint Activities
With the sales volume and missile technology that it possesses based on its unique products and advanced technology, Roketsan’s objective is to be among the top 50 firms that provide direction to the global defence industry and to this end it has made great strides in international collaboration.
Integration activities continue in the 2.75’’ Laser Guided Missile “Cirit” (Javelin) for third party needs for the France based SAGEM company’s UAV Patroller. Evaluation on joint marketing for this type of package solutions for third party needs is also underway.
Within the coverage of the MoU signed between the French Eurocopter and Roketsan, work continues on integrating the “Cirit” system to the EC635 Helicopter platform. The integration of Roketsan’s missile systems with the EC Platform to meet the needs of third countries through joint marketing is under consideration. Within this context, as the first step in the package solution, similar activities exhibited within the framework of the EC Platform integration is being discussed for the Tiger Platform.
In addition to this proud breakthrough performed in a short time, Roketsan also participates in the work packages in the area of the high-definition reconnaissance and surveillance satellite system that is planned to be acquired within the coverage of the Göktürk 1 Project.
