Space & Defence Technologies Inc’s (SDT) is a privately owned Turkish company operating in Turkish defense sector and conducting high technology software and hardware development & system production. SDT’s operation is run according to internationally accepted engineering, quality assurance, configuration management and program management standards like ISO 9001:2008, IEEE 12207, IEEE 1220, MIL-STD-498 and MIL-ST-973, PMI handbook and various other internationally recognized standards.
SDT is specialized in certain areas like Radar-EW signal processing, image processing/pattern recognition, embedded software/systems, satellite technologies and related simulation & modeling systems and has a variety of products in these areas. SDT is very well recognized by SSM (Undersecretariat For Turkish Defense Industries) and also a full member of SASAD (Association of Turkish Defense Industries) of Turkey. Currently, SDT has some ongoing development contracts directly with SSM and some of SDT’s ongoing development and production contracts are with the main system integrator Turkish companies, namely TAI, ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN and FNSS.
SDT’s ongoing  R&D  efforts capability resulted qualified military electronics products and high technology remote sensing applications. SDT has been developing various simulation and modelling applications, concentrated on embedded simulation applications, visual modelling, tactical environment simulation and sensor simulations.  It has expanded its technological base especially in (i) sensor signal and image processing applications in airborne platforms, UAVs and satellites, (ii) military mission electronics equipment and (iii) also simulation & modelling applications in the local market and would like to offer these products and capabilities also to the export market.
The following describes two important samples of SDT’s modern system solution that can be tailored to specific needs of modern armed forces:
Geospatial Intelligence Management System (Gims)
The GIMS is a software system that SDT has developed towards geospatial intelligence needs of modern armed forces. It can be adapted to any specific customer needs. Airborne and space based surveillance and reconnaissance are essential for successful military missions. Such capabilities are critical for troop protection, situational awareness, mission planning, damage assessment and others.
GIMS is a modular, end-to-end, comprehensive solution for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) requirements, from imagery and video acquisition to Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) dissemination. The system is designed to produce Geospatial Intelligence by real-time processing and integration of the image and/or video delivered by a variety of space, airborne and ground based sensors such as Electro-Optics (E/O), Infra-Red (IR) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
Features
Service request and task management
Image and video ingestion
Archive, manage and serve image and live video stream
Real-time and offline image analysis and exploitation
Ability to create annotations on streaming video
Fusing image and video with other intelligence sources
Embedded Training System (Ets)
The Embedded Training System (ETS) is the training simulator for combat aircraft pilots.
ETS integrates the actual aircraft with the simulation system. It enables the cost effective pilot trainings in real flight conditions with simulated friend and enemy platforms, sensors, counter measures, weapons and etc. So, the simulation moves into the aircraft.
ETS composes of the hardware / software components installed into the fighter which will interact with the avionic systems on the platform eg: Radar, RWR, MFD, HUD, HMDS, Hotas, etc. In the cockpit the simulation presents the pilots a realistic and challenging synthetic environment containing synthetic hostile and friendly aircraft and synthetic Surface-to-Air Missile systems (SAM-sites). The pilots can interact with this environment using the aircraft’s offensive and defensive systems as they are expected to do in real combat situations.
Features
Scenario planning
Training Opportunity for weapons, sensors etc which do not exist on the platform or expensive to use.
Opportunity to fight against simulated enemy platforms, weapons, SAM sites etc.
Debrief capability
Flexibility in training scenarios
Training in real flight conditions
Lower cost compare to real training environments
