SEDEC Homeland Border Security Event Held for the Third Time in Ankara
Organized with the support of the Presidency of Defense Agencies (SSB) and the Defense and Aerospace Industry Exporters' Association (SSI), the SEDEC 2022 Homeland Border Security Event was successfully held for the third time at Ankara ATO Congresium Convention and Exhibition Center between June 28-30, 2022.
Organized biennially by the Defense Industry Manufacturers Association (SASAD) and the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO, SEDEC addresses border security, coast guard, city security, secure communication, communication security with a holistic security approach. The primary goal of the SEDEC is to provide the opportunity to gather the requiring/procurement authorities like ministries and their sub-divisions with the manufacturers and providers in the security sector and defense supply chain. It also aims to provide export opportunities by bringing the participants from the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Presidency of Defense Agencies, Turkish Defense and Aviation Industry Exporters' Association, Information, and Communication Technologies Authority, from companies such as ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, ASPİLSAN, İŞBİR, HAVELSAN HTR, MKEK, ASFAT, STM, ULAK, as well as representatives of international companies, such as Airbus, Telespazio, Tawazun together with procurement authorities and purchasing delegations from more than 50 countries across the world.

SEDEC aims to integrate the talents of providers in the defense supply chain into the security sector, as well as manufacturers who produce in the security sector and have R&D and product development activities. With the security industry advancing rapidly, SEDEC aims to contribute to our country’s national and domestic move by bringing the procurement authorities together with the defense industry companies so that they can demonstrate their advanced technology and production capabilities, also in the security sector in which state-of-the-art products are also available.
Türkiye's Premiere Homeland Border Security Event
SEDEC, which was held in 2018 for the first time, is Türkiye's only homeland security event. In 2018, procurement authorities from 39 countries were invited and brought together with Turkish Security and Defense Industry manufacturers. During the 3-day event, a conference with the leading domestic and foreign industry leaders was held, and 4,200 B2B meetings were held on the second and third days. The second SEDEC event was held online on September 17-20, 2020, due to the Pandemic, senior officials from Pakistan and Indonesia made the opening speech, and 254 companies from 24 countries made 700 B2B/B2G meetings.
During this year's event, 186 companies and institutions from 51 countries held 5800 planned meetings. In the event, which is only open to industry professionals and procurement authorities, 4390 visitors attended the event for three days, excluding the protocol.
Also this year, Defense Production Minister of Pakistan, Deputy Ministers from Georgia, Head of Georgia State Military Scientific-Technical Center DELTA, Director-General of Strategic Planning of the Argentine, Deputy Chief of the General staff of the Vietnam People's Armed Forces, Kuwait Air Defense Commander, Brazilian Under-Secretary of Defense, Chief of Staff of the El Salvador Air Force, Deputy Head of the Salvadoran Armed Forces' Joint Chiefs of Staff, and their accompanying delegations participated in SEDEC.
On the first day of the event, a conference with 28 local and foreign speakers on "Security and Space," "Border Security Technologies," "Homeland Security and Technologies," "Defense Supply Chain," and "Secure Communication" was held.
On the 2nd day of the event, a panel with five speakers on "Holistic Security" was held in parallel with the B2B/B2G meetings. In addition, a special workshop was held by BTK only for domestic companies.
On the 3rd day of the event, the SEDEC Start Up Days event was held in parallel with B2B/B2Gs, with the participation of Start-Ups and TUSAŞ. In addition, the "Investor Days" event of the Teknokent Defense Industry Cluster (TSSK) was organized on the same day.
Lastly, SEDEC Gala Dinner was held on June 28, 2022, and a VIP dinner was held by SaSaD on June 29, 2022, at the Ankara Ethnography Museum.
