South Africa’s Dweller Aselsan
Aselsan participated in the international fair that took place at Waterkloof Air Base in South African Republic’s Pretoria city and demonstrated its products in both indoor and outdoor display areas. The Delegation was composed of Chairman of the Board Dr. Hasan Canpolat, Member of the Board Celalettin Döver, Deputy General Manager Özcan Kahramangil who presented the products to the participants, showing the level reached in the defence industry. The Turkish flag was at the centerpiece of the Aselsan stand. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Thermal Avionic Imaging and Target Systems, Night Vision Goggles, Thermal Weapon Sights and many other products were presented to the participants at the fair. Nearly 400 companies from all over the world attended the fair that took place between 17-21 September 2014.
Aselsan Also Growing in South Africa
Aselsan signed a cooperation agreement with one of South Africa’s major defence companies Paramount Advanced Technologies (PAT) at the fair.
At the signing ceremony, hosted by Aselsan Chairman of the Board Dr. Hasan Canpolat and Paramount Group’s Chairman of the Board Ivor İchikowitz, PAT CEO Lt.Gen. Carlo Gagiano and Aselsan Deputy General Manager Özcan Kahramangil signed the agreement.
With this memorandum of understanding signed, the two companies decided to act jointly at both local and international markets. The companies will evaluate the business opportunities within the global defence markets for their products, technologies and capabilities. It is considered that the synergy to be created by these two leading companies of the region would pave the way to many new projects.
Both companies have been performing their activities in avionic systems, integration and modernization of weapon systems, communication systems and command-control areas.
A Turkish Defence Company in Africa
Deputy Defence Minister Hasan Kemal Yardımcı visited Aselsan South Africa (ASA) Company and expressed the importance attached to ASA.
A comprehensive report was presented during the visit hosted by Aselsan Chairman of the Board Dr. Hasan Canpolat.
Yardımcı underlined their pride with the existence of a fully Turkish defence company in South Africa and committed that they would be supporting this company in every aspect.
“A serious start was made. You bear critical technologies. This company will be conducting major businesses and it has a promising future” said Deputy Minister Yardımcı. Turkish Ambassador to Pretoria Kaan Esener took part in the visit as well.
Single Company with Thermal Design Capability in the Republic of South Africa
Aselsan SOUTH AFRICA (ASA) was established in October 2011 in Branch Pretoria – Republic of South Africa.
This company was established in order to conduct R&D and prototype production activities in designing and modelling of electro-optical systems, system engineering, opto-mechanic system engineering, electronics and software engineering areas. Furthermore, ASA carries operations to promote and market Aselsan products in South Africa and nearby countries.
