TEI Powering Up the Black Hawks

With the signing of the contract between the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) and main contractor TAI, main sub-contractor Sikorsky Aircraft, the program came into effect within the scope of the Turkish General Purpose Helicopter Program.
Taking part as a licensed engine manufacturer in the program, TEI will be producing the T700-TEI-701D engine which powers up the Black Hawk helicopters. TEI will be in charge of the full execution of engine parts and module productions, engine assembly, test, sales and after sales logistical support services and the company will be delivering 236 engines and spare parts for 109 helicopters within the scope of the Project.  
In his statement regarding the project, TEI General Manager Prof. Mahmut F. Akşit said, “As a novelty, the hot spot parts such as blast chamber of the engine will be produced in Turkey in addition to its critical parts that will be required throughout engine’s lifetime and the assembly and tests of the engine will also be conducted again at TEI’s premises. As part of the after sales support, we will be provided with the capacity of executing the Depot Level Maintenance of the T700 engine group which is included into the Turkish end users’ inventory through domestic production parts. Furthermore, we will be able to offer depot level maintenance service to T700 engine users for a wide geography identified outside Turkey. We aim to acquire optimal benefit to all shareholders with a competitive price through this program”.
