The First T-155 8x8-Integrated Panter Howitzer Delivered to the Turkish Land Forces
The delivery of the T-155 Panter Howitzer Prototype, which marks the first and most critical milestone in the T-155 8x8-Integrated Modern Towed Panter Howitzer Modernization Project, was successfully completed, and the first system entered the inventory on 5 November 2025.
Under the 8x8 Tactical Wheeled Vehicle-Integrated T-155 Panter Weapon System project, carried out under the administrative responsibility of the General Directorate of Military Factories (AFGM), with ASFAT as the main contractor and ASELSAN, BMC, and MKE as subcontractors, the prototype qualification and inspection-acceptance processes were successfully finalized.
The T-155 8x8-Integrated Panter Howitzer consists of the integration of the 155 mm Weapon System (removed from the towed Panter Howitzer and modernized by MKE) onto the 8x8 tactical wheeled vehicle indigenously developed by BMC, together with the Fire Control System developed by ASELSAN. The integration activities of the project are conducted by the 2nd Main Maintenance Factory Directorate.
Developed under ASFAT as the main contractor through domestic engineering expertise and industrial cooperation, the 8x8 Tactical Wheeled Vehicle-Integrated T-155 Panter Weapon System stands out as an innovative, high-operational-value solution that meets the Turkish Armed Forces’ artillery requirements.
During the nearly three-year qualification period, the prototype completed more than 20,000 km of driving across various terrain types and conducted close to 350 firings under different firing scenarios. In addition, the T-155 8x8-Integrated Panter Howitzer successfully passed various performance tests, including environmental condition tests, completing the overall qualification process.
The 8x8 Tactical Wheeled Vehicle-Integrated T-155 Panter Weapon System was designed and produced as an artillery-class weapon system. Thanks to its enhanced mobility, the Panter provides effective, accurate, and timely fire support on the battlefield and successfully performs missions to suppress and neutralize hostile elements. Its most notable capability is the ability to rapidly take position using the mobility of the 8x8 tactical wheeled vehicle and execute accurate long-range fire through its fire control system. These features elevate the T-155 8x8-Integrated Panter to a preferred artillery weapon system in modern land operations.
As part of the project, a contract was signed between AFGM and ASFAT in 2020, the schedule was initiated in November 2021, and prototype integration activities were completed in November 2022. The first live-fire tests with the prototype were conducted in December 2022. As of November 2025, following the completion of inspection activities, the T-155 8x8-Integrated Panter Howitzer entered the inventory of the TLFC, marking the start of Serial Production.
