This first bulk delivery was accomplished only three months after Eurocopter winning the tender and becoming the producer. THK Gökçen Aviation and Saran Holding shall deploy a fleet composed of 17 EC135 in order to provide emergency medical services within the scope of a five-year air ambulance service contract from the Turkish Ministry of Health. Remaining helicopters shall be delivered in 2014 spring.
Eurocopter’s Senior Vice President for Sales and Customer Relations Mr. Olivier Lambert, “Turkey has a developing helicopter market and we are proud to support the Turkish Ministry of Health’s project. With this project conducted with THK Gökçen Aviation, we are strengthening our position in Turkey that is of great strategic importance”.
Eurocopter helicopters are being used by Turkish Ministry of Health in emergency medical operations since 2008. THK Gökçen Aviation’s choice of EC135 once again proved that helicopters are reference points in EMS (emergency medical services) worldwide. This twin-engine rotorcraft EC135 that is the choice of Emergency Medical Assistance Providers accomplishes 25% of emergency medical services all over the world. To date, approximately 500 of the 1,100 EC135 helicopters operating in the world are EC135 EMS version.
The EC135 combines a wide, unobstructed cabin with excellent performance, range and payload capacity – along with low-noise operations. The helicopter’s oversized sliding side doors and rear clamshell doors enable fast loading/unloading of patients – with additional safety during ground operations ensured by Eurocopter’s shrouded Fenestron tail rotor.
