Before his visit to İstanbul Naval Shipyard, on December 3rd CNS Admiral NIAZI also called on Commander of Turkish Fleet Admiral Ercument TATLIOĞLU at Fleet Headquarters, in Gölcük Naval Base, and visited Gölcük Naval Shipyard where he was briefed on REIS Class Submarine Project by Gölcük Naval Shipyard Commander Rear Admiral (LH) Mustafa SAYGILI.
Vice Admiral NIAZI was promoted to the rank of Admiral on September 30, 2020 and at the same day he was appointed as Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS, Pakistan Naval Forces Commander) by Pakistan President Dr. Arif ALVI. CNS Admiral NIAZI succeeded Admiral Zafar MAHMOOD who relinquished the Command of Pakistan Navy with a ceremony held on October 7, 2020 at PNS Zafar. Turkey is one of the fist countries that CNS Admiral NIAZI paid an official visit following his appointment to the Chief of Pakistan Naval Staff in October 2020.
Within the scope of his official visit on December 2nd, Pakistan CNS Admiral NIAZI welcomed by his Turkish counterpart Admiral Adnan ÖZBAL at the Turkish Naval Forces Headquarters in Ankara. During a meeting, both the dignitaries discussed the matters of naval collaboration and mutual interest aimed at further enhancing ties between the navies of two brotherly countries. Pakistan CNS Admiral NIAZI was also given comprehensive briefing regarding Turkish Naval Forces. Pakistan CNS Admiral NIAZI officially invited Turkish naval Forces to participate AMAN 2021 Naval Exercise that set to be held in waters near Karachi in February 2021. At the Turkish Naval Forces Headquarters, Admiral NIAZI was presented guard of honour and subsequently conferred with “Legion of Merit of the Turkish Armed Forces” by Turkish Naval Forces Commander Admiral ÖZBAL in an impressive ceremony.
Later, Pakistan CNS Admiral NIAZI called on Minister of National Defence Hulusi AKAR and Chief of the Turkish General Staff (TGS) General Yasar GÜLER at Turkish General Staff Headquarters, Ankara. On December 2nd, CNS Admiral NIAZI also called on President of Defence Industries İsmail DEMİR at Presidency of Defence Industries.
