7th European Union (EU) Framework Program “Security Research Conference”
Within the scope of European Union (EU) 7th Framework Program Security Research Theme , TUBİTAK organized a “Security Research Day” at the Research Institute of TUBITAK (UZAY) on March 5-6, 2007 After an opening speech by TUBİTAK Vice President Prof. Dr. Ömer ANLA?AN, Undersecretary of Defence Industries Murad BAYAR took floor. Than Mr. Khoen LIEM, EU DG Enterprise and Industry official, made a presentation about the EU 7th Framework Program and Security Research.
In the conference organized in order to determinate the research fields be presented as project or be participated as partner within the scope of the 7th FP Security Field and provide a platform for the participants to exchange the information and experiences, Universities activated in security research ,research institutions, private institutions, Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and representatives of the companies sector all gathered to share their projects among the participants.
Within the scope of the Europe Security Research Program, due to the enlargement of the Union and the new threats, risks and vulnerabilities, in order to develop a longer-term perspective against threats , the “Security” theme has been adopted as a new research field in the 7th Framework Program.
The objective of the Security theme is:
to develop the technologies and knowledge for building capabilities needed
to ensure the security of citizens from threats such as acts of terrorism
and (organized) crime, natural disasters and industrial accidents while
respecting fundamental human rights including privacy, to ensure optimal
and concerted use of available and evolving technologies to the benefit
of civil European security, to stimulate the cooperation of providers
and users for civil security solutions, to improve the competitiveness
of the European security industry and to deliver missionoriented results
to reduce security gaps.
