ANKA in Mass Production

Agreement on the mass production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) ANKA, developed for covering the reconnaissance and surveillance, target acquisition demands of Turkish Armed Forces, was signed between the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries and TAI Turkish Aerospace Industries. Previously, within the scope of the project, launching the talks for an agreement with TAI for the serial production of ANKA MALE type unmanned aerial vehicle was decided at the Defence Industry Execution Committee’s meeting in January 2012. Thus, after a period of 21 months, all obstacles have been overcome and an agreement covering all requirements set by both parties have been signed.
Many Turkish companies shall involve in the Project to be executed by TAI as the main contractor and domestic resources are to be used to a maximum degree. In addition to its existing features, ANKA UAV system shall contain a satellite control, encrypted data link, national flight control computer and a high resolution camera.
Delivery of 10 ANKA UAVs and related ground systems to be supplied within the scope of the contract shall start in 2016 and is expected to be accomplished in 2018. 
According to the contract that has been made in October, during the production of ANKA, indigenous capabilities will be utiilized to a maximum. ANKA, which has 200 kilometers of range and 18 hours of flight capacity, can reach an altitude of 26 thousand feet.
ANKA, that can collect intelligence through its day and night vision cameras, has been developed for the Turkish Armed Forces. ANKA’s monoblock body, which is designed totally as a composite structure by the TAI engineers, is composed of dismantable wings, V-tail, collapsible landing gear, redundancy control surfaces, equipment partitions and service flaps.
