The indigenous IFF Mode 5/S System Development Project’s delivery ceremony took place at Aselsan’s facilities in Macunköy and many guests from Turkish Armed Forces, Ministry of National Defence and TÜBİTAK attended. At the ceremony, Aselsan’s General Manager Mr. Cengiz Ergeneman presented information about the project and said: “Agreement for the National Mode 5/S Friend or Foe Identification System Project was signed in December 6, 2006 between the Ministry of National Defence and Aselsan. 7 Countries in the World Have This Technology
The development of Mode 5/S interrogation and reply prototypes and their integration with the related platforms and tests were successfully accomplished with the operational flight tests in November 2012. The IFF Mode 5/S system, which has an indigenous hardware and software developed by Aselsan and is owned by 7 countries in the world and is compatible with the NATO standards, has a prominent place in Aselsan’s product line with both its design characteristic and production capabilities.
In the second phase, an agreement for the mass production/integration in order to meet the Mode 5 requirements of the newly supplied platforms and update the current equipment in Turkish Armed Forces’ inventory to the Mode 5 level is aimed with regards to the 2020 calendar of the NATO. As Aselsan we are ready to fulfil all our tasks and exert all efforts in order to create national and indigenous solutions to the electronic needs of our military and civilian institutions.
Following the briefing, display of the introductory film and the presentation of the plaques to those who contributed, the first indigenous IFF Mode 5/S System was delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces.
