IN THE SERVICE OF TURKISH AND ALLIED COUNTRY ARMED FORCES
BMC Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., one of the biggest vehicle manufacturers in Turkey, was founded in Izmir in 1964, and started production in 1966. The company began with the partnership of British Motors Corporation which was finalized within years, leading BMC to become the sole local commercial vehicle manufacturer in Turkey with its 100% local capital.
BMC is utilizing its advanced technology and vast experience in defense industry primarily meeting the demands of the Turkish Armed Forces along with armies around the world, as well.
The quality of BMC defense industry products are certified with “ISO 9000:2000 Quality System” and “AQAP-2110 Quality Assurance Requirements for Design, Development and Production for NATO” certificates. BMC has gained the title of “Company Manufacturing in NATO Standards”; and is a registered company of NAMSA (NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency) Source Mailing List, the list of the companies allowed for sales to NATO countries.
BMC has the “NATO Secret” and “National Secret” Classified Facility Certificates, and is given the “Production License” by the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
BMC has the engineering know-how and the technology for designing all the machinery, equipment, molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures required for the production of all parts to build up a vehicle including the chassis, body, engine, and axles. Starting from the product design of the new vehicles, all the processes including the production of the prototypes; the tests required for the function, mission, endurance, life, development, legislations, and compliance with special and military specifications; homologation in accordance with national and international regulations; and mass production are realized with BMC’s own capabilities.

BMC is capable to design, develop and realize the mass production of a product rapidly through its Research and Development studies carried out independently under its structure in order to meet all requirements and expectations in defense industry. All BMC products are designed with the aim of minimum operational cost conditions; they are provided with the longest and the most economic service life under BMC’s perfect configuration management discipline which also complies with military requirements.
BMC Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. has made important investments with the purpose of developing defense industry, and meeting the demands of Turkish Armed Forces; and has taken a step forward in its purpose by producing the first Aircraft and Helicopter Refuelers in Turkey capable of fueling both military and civil aircrafts. Two variant Aircraft Refuelers have been produced and delivered to Turkish Land Forces Command (TLFC), Turkish Air Forces Command (TAFC), Turkish Naval Forces Command (TNFC), and Gendarmerie General Command.
The refuelers are produced in compliance with NATO and NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency) standards in 5,000-20,000 lt capacities. BMC PRO 827 (6x4) 20.000 lt Aircraft Refuelers produced for TLFC is the only aircraft refueler in the world, transportable by military C130 HERCULES cargo aircrafts. The 20,000 lt capacity tankers with aluminum body, are capable of fueling F16 planes within three minutes. Moreover, they are suitable for civil use.
The state of the art Aircraft Refuelers are preferred by both civil and military users. Showing great interest in BMC Aircraft Refuelers, Allied Country Armed Forces have started procurement of these refuelers.
WHEELED ARMORED VEHICLE (WAV) PRODUCTION AND MODERNIZATION: BMC has started manufacturing of (4x4), (6x6), (8x8) WAVs, by utilizing its capabilities, engineering experience, and design capability in automotive production.
BMC, modernizes WAVs. 302 units BTR 60 (8x8) WAVs were renovated and delivered to Gendarmerie General Command in 1996. These WAVs are currently being used successfully. Similarly, BMC is capable of modernizing BTR 80 (8x8) WAVs.
BMC has responded to RFI of Special Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle Project of SSM (Undersecretariat for defense ) and expecting to receive RFP.
MODERN TANK PROJECT: BMC was the Prime Contractor of the most important joint enterprise group in the project opened by Turkish Ministry of Defense in 1999 with licenser General Dynamics Land Systems/USA company, for the 1000 units tank requirement of Turkish Armed Forces. But this project was stopped in 2004.
After that the feasibility study was started by SSM for an indigenous Turkish main battle tank project by assigning BMC for this task together with 2 other Turkish companies and the feasibility report was submitted to SSM in 2005.
SSM has opened new tender for National Tank Manufacturing with National Capabilities Project in February 2006. BMC has submitted the proposal together with FNSS and the tender result is expected to be announced at the end of March 2007.
AFTER SALES SERVICE AND SPARE PARTS SUPPORT: BMC is capable of providing maximum support to customers through its after sales support units. The company has the widest After Sales Service Network in Turkey with its 62 Authorized Dealers, 184 Authorized Services, and 218 Spare Parts Dealers affiliated with eight branch offices throughout Turkey. “Instant Part Supply” constitutes the main principal of BMC’s after sales service standards.
BMC performs after sales service in the countries where it realizes exports with the same understanding and fastidiousness.
INTEGRATED LOGISTICS SUPPORT: BMC’s Maintenance Levels are in identical structure with NATO Maintenance Levels. User Level Maintenance, Unit Level Maintenance, and Factory Level Maintenance, which is composed of 4th and 5th Levels, can be realized. Furthermore, BMC provides support to stationary units within the garrisons under Operation and Field Training Conditions.
All the products and spare parts of BMC have NATO Stock Code Numbers. All spare parts demands from 4th and 5th Maintenance Levels and all the units are met instantly by 184 Authorized Services and 218 Authorized Spare Parts Dealers.
TRAINING SUPPORT: The necessary theoretical and practical training support required for the operation and maintenance of all defense products is provided by the experienced training personnel of BMC.
