Yonca-Onuk JV proudly continue construction and delivery of the “Kaan” class ONUK MRTP advanced composites boats to the Turkish Coast Guard, Customs, Ministry of Health and to the Navies and Law enforcement forces around the world.

Winning the “FIC (Fast Intervention Craft) for the Turkish Coast Guard” Project by UDI (Under Secretary of Defense Industry), in a tender open to international competition, 18 ea “Kaan15” boats (16,70m, 64+ knots, DNV Certified) have been delivered to the TCG (Turkish Coast Guard), 3 boats to the Turkish Customs and 4 boats exported as of July 2003. As of today all boats are in service.

In 2004, to replace the very successful “Kaan15” class Onuk Ltd.,, developped the ONUK MRTP16 , with a slightly larger and longer new hull and a new structure designed to 6g at a center of gravity (CG), all to improve performances, to enhance sea keeping and to gain higher robustness.

4ea ONUK MRTP16 boats were delivered to Directorate General of Health, Turkish Borders and Coasts as of July 2005 through UDI. Turkish Customs ordered a series of ONUK MRTP16 to the Yonca-Onuk JV through UDI in addition to their existing ONUK MRTP15 fleet. One Boat was delivered in 2006 and 3 Boats are under construction at the shipyard to be delivered in 2007.

In 2005 UDI decided to improve further the open sea capabilities of the Turkish Coast Guard’s “Kaan15” FIC fleet and continue the project with the ONUK MRTP20, the “Improved FIC”.

UDI contributed to the project as an R&D and ordered the first boat.. First of the “Kaan20” class ONUK MRTP20 (22,55m, 61 knots) was delivered to the TCG in August 2006. With a new generation hull designed for speeds up to 80 knots and a structure designed to 6g vertical acceleration, the Improved FIC is designed to exceed today’s increasingly though requirements of the naval and law enforcement forces to control the littoral and the coastal waters. Internally, the advanced machinery systems and arrangement result in a vessel with greatly enhanced robustness, operability, maintainability and accommodation standards.

ONUK MRTP20 has been developed relying heavily on the experience in design, construction and intense use of the “Kaan15” Class and the “Kaan29/33” Class boats and in the light of the most recent technologies and future trends in the world, to exceed the technical and tactical requirements of various potential customers in Turkey and around the world.

In 2001 Yonca-Onuk JV started the delivery of ONUK MRTP29 and ONUK MRTP33; the larger “Kaan” class platforms.

9 ea “Kaan29” and 7 ea “Kaan33” class MRTP Fast Patrol / Attack Crafts are in service since 2001 and others under construction. With a speed of 47+ knots “Kaan33” class boats are capable of carrying medium range ASM like Harpoon Block 2.and a 30mm gun on a stabilized turret in the front. MRTP33 can be equipped with various mission modules, thereby adding to its cost-effectiveness. “Kaan33” class boats can be configured to meet/exceed the anticipated future needs of the global market for a variety of mission profiles.

In 2006, as a result of a tender open to international competition, Pakistan Navy contracted a series of ONUK MRTP33 Fast Patrol/Attack Craft from Yonca-Onuk JV. Boats will be delivered in 2007 and 2008.

With their very high speed, high maneuverability, superior sea keeping and shallow water capabilities, “Kaan” class boats are ideally suited for the mastery of the brown waters. They attract the interest of international customers and JV is expected to sign new export contracts in 2007.
