GİRSAN MACHINE and LIGHT WEAPON INDUSTRY

GIRSAN Weapon Industry; was established in the scope of “North Black Sea Weapon Project” in the year of 1994, in order to manufacture high quality and safe weapons and armaments which required by Turkish armed and Police forces and to create a new employment ambience in the region. Following 1,5 years of project and infrastructure activities, YAVUZ16 guns had been presented to the market in 1995.

GIRSAN Weapon Industry had moved its production to a plant building of 3600m2 in 1999; by following the latest technology that has been used in the world, it has gone through the automatic control system using the computer-aided CNC workbenches.

With its employees that reached to 200 in total and its investments on the machines which was about 1.5 million USD in the first half of the year 2005, the annual gun production capacity of the plant had been increased 3 times and reached to a level of 60.000 per unit.

So far, YAVUZ16 is the only indigenous gun that has passed all the tests successfully and has been used by the Security General Directorate. A total amount of 37.200 ea. Yavuz 16, 15.000 ea. in 2000, 12.000 ea. in 2005 and 10.200 ea. in 2006, gun had been procured by bidding. Currently, Yavuz 16 is the staff gun that is used by Security Forces.

Also, YAVUZ16 guns had passed successfully complicated Bidding Tests of Gendarmerie General Command in the year of 2002 and of Ministry of Defence for an amount 2.300 in the year of 2003. In the private movable gun tender that was held by Ministry of Defence in the year of 2004, the GIRSAN Company had delivered 6.000 guns 7 months before the contract delivery date.

In the tender that had been held in the year of 2006 by Gendarmerie General Command for 8.400 ea. of 9x19mm guns, Yavuz 16 gun, that passed all of the tests successfully, had become the trademark which had been preferred by Gendarmerie General Command.

Finally, YAVUZ16 guns had proved its quality by passing the tests also in the tenders that had been held by Coast Guard Command for 700 ea. and by Security General Directorate for 10.200 ea.

In the last years YAVUZ16 guns, that are used in Turkish Armed Forces and Security General Directorate constitutions frequently, have attracted deep intention abroad and acknowledged itself also in the international platform.

YAVUZ16 guns have achieved to be the private gun for the Malaysia Special Forces Command and Malaysia Security Organization.

Although GIRSAN has started export activities in the beginning of March, 2006 now its exports to lots of South America, East and Middle Asia countries are continuing.

GIRSAN guns are being produced under the names of YAVUZ16 Regard M.C, YAVUZ16 Compact M.C, YAVUZ16 Tugra, YAVUZ16 Bora and YAVUZ16 Zirve. Shooting systems of all of guns are half automatic double action and working system is short kickback reaction. Barrel is manufactured with “Cold Forged Technology” and long life fire barrel is 30.000 shots. The body part of guns is manufactured using light alloyed metal. The working temperature for all of the models is between -40oC and +60oC. Safety system consists of safety tumbler, safety pin, safety cock and nail point that indicates bullet in the barrel. The guns, which uses 9mm x 19 parabellum bullet, have superior shooting power and 15+1 cartridge capacity.

The barrel length for YAVUZ16 Regard M.C model is 125 mm and effective shooting range is 90(+-10) m.

YAVUZ16 Compact M.C model is the lightest model, and its barrel length is 110 mm, effective shooting range is 80(+-10) m.

YAVUZ16 Tugra model is the longest model and its barrel length is 130 mm and effective shooting range is 100(+- 10) m.

YAVUZ16 Zirve model has a hidden cock. This model is the shortest model and barrel length is 106.4 mm and effective shooting range is the same with the Compact model.

The barrel length and effective shooting range of YAVUZ16 Bora model is the same with Zirve model.

As a result of the importance that GIRSAN has given and the investments that GIRSAN has made on the R&D activities, the guns are being manufactured in NATO Standards and pass the complicated tests with zero error that are made in the scope of the mentioned standards.

- Cold weather shooting test

- Hot weather shooting test

- Endurance test (Shooting of 5000 ea. bullets)

- Interchangeability

- Salt water (Paint resistance test)

- Oily Shooting

- Drop test (with a bullet in the barrel)

GIRSAN has ISO 9001-2000 Quality Management System. Ministry of Defence ( MOD ) Security Clearance and MOD Manufacturing Certificates. In addition to these GIRSAN has ATF Form 4590 (Factoring Criteria Report) (importable report ) given by USA Alcohol Tobacco Firing Guns and Explosives Directorate.

GIRSAN YAVUZ16 pistols, which have been in the limelight in Turkey by reason of having high quality, have moved their great ascendance to the world market.

GIRSAN, which has been performing activity for 15 years since its foundation with an awareness of the fact of chance, will preserve its pioneer image within gun production sector through using the new investments, new projects and latest technology.
