During the satellite’s transfer operation, Undersecretary for Defence Industries Prof. İsmail Demir stated that the “Göktürk-1” satellite was manufactured especially for meeting the requirements of the Air Forces Command and underlined that the satellite will provide high resolution images for intelligence purposes from any region over the world, without any geographical limitations.   
According to the programme schedule, the environmental tests of the “Göktürk-1” Satellite will be accomplished at the TAI Space Systems Integration and Test (USET-AIT) Center. Within the scope of the programme the satellite’s Vibration, Acoustic, Solar Panel Opening, Thermal Vacuum, Electromagnetic Compatibility and other similar tests will be conducted by the expert personnel of TAI and Thales Alenia Space. Following the environmental tests, the satellite will be sent to the launching area from the facilities of TAI.
With the “Göktürk-1” Programme; high resolution images from any given region over the world will be received for military purposes without any geographical limitations. Meanwhile, through the procurement of this satellite system, the images required for the control of the forestry will be enabled, shanty settlements will be monitored, rapid detection of the damages caused by natural disasters will be possible and geographical data processing will be enabled.
Within the scope of the agreement in addition to the establishment of satellite systems and its components, a satellite installation, integration and test center in international standards was launched for the domestic accomplishment of the integration and tests of the satellites up to 5 tons at TAI facilities.
