Handover Ceremony at SSB: Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN Assumes Office from Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR
Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN, who was appointed as the President of the Defence Industry Agency (SSB), assumed his position in a ceremony from Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR. GÖRGÜN stated that they will continue to enhance the defence industry ecosystem and said, "With our determination and belief, we are committed to doing whatever it takes for a fully independent defence industry. We eagerly look forward to serving our security forces and our homeland, whom we always stand by."
During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. GÖRGÜN and Prof. Dr. DEMİR exchanged ties as a memento of the day. In his speech, Prof. Dr. GÖRGÜN made the following statement: "I express my deepest gratitude to President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN for the trust he has shown in me by appointing me to the position of Defence Industry Agency, which requires greater responsibility and determination after my service at ASELSAN, the pride of our country. I offer my deepest gratitude to His Excellency, for whom we will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of our country. We know the immense responsibility of this entrusted duty bestowed upon me with the approval of President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN. I express my gratitude to our President for the nine years of service during which he achieved remarkable successes for the Turkish defence industry."
Prof. Dr. İsmail DEMİR, who handed over his position to Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN, stated the following in his speech at the ceremony: "Today, we are at the handover ceremony of the Defence Industry Agency, where we have served for nine years. I thank all my colleagues and stakeholders in the industry during this process. There is no need to summarize the nine years, but if you ask what the most popular topic in Türkiye is currently, the defence industry is probably the first thing that comes to mind. It is an important indicator of the progress made by this sector and Türkiye. We worked hand in hand and with unity of purpose. We had a good frequency with the entire sector, including the main players. Today, I am pleased to hand over the duty to a friend from within the sector. We have carried out this duty to the best of our abilities. During this process, we had contacts in the sector, and if there have been any shortcomings, I ask for your forgiveness. This is a relay race. In a relay race, each player holding the baton expects to run faster and perform better than the previous one. We believe that Haluk, our brother, will fulfill this expectation. With your support, the defence industry sector will continue to be the pride of Türkiye, with all its players, in this new era. The baton will be carried even further. I congratulate you and wish you success."
