İŞBİR Electric Co: A Leoding Company in Alternator and Generator Production
İşbir Electric Industry Co, with its name inspired by the İşçi Birliği (Laborers Union), was founded in Balıkesir in 1977 by the laborers working abroad and started indigenous alternator production in 1981 with the Hitzinger license and then moved onto production under the İŞBİR brand. As of today, 99,76% of İşbir’s capital belongs to Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV). İşbir Electric Industry Co. had an issued capital of 31.000.000 by the end of year 2011. Through capital increase, our company brought support, impetus and strength to her long standing R&D activities and thus gained advantage compared with her rivals freshly starting such activities.
While enabling a better focus on marketing and production activities, this capital increase also adopts a principle of “gaining when buying” rather than the “gaining through selling” and this helped the company to get a strong bargaining power in all its procurement activities.
İŞBİR became a school and model in generator production in Turkey. Technologic accumulation in the areas of alternator and panel production started in İŞBİR and most of the qualified labor currently employed in the sector was trained at İŞBİR school. İŞBİR guided all other companies and became their model with its technology and infrastructure for the synchronized and dual panels and marine alternators, mobile systems it produces.
In the area of electric and electromagnetic equipment production technologies utilized in power generation; the design, production, test and qualification activities for the following are our priorities.
Alternator
Generator
Convertor
Electrogenic Groups
Electricity Panels
İŞBİR in major projects of Electrical Defence Industry
As an affiliate company of TSKGV, İŞBİR contributes greatly to the Defence Industry through its custom productions. Our marine-type generators and synchronized groups were utilized in Turkey’s major projects. MILGEM and New Type Patrol Boat projects could be considered among these projects. Within the scope of the National Vessel Project for meeting the demand of the Turkish Naval Forces Command, İŞBİR produced 4 marine generator groups of 750 kVA power for 2 vessels. MILGEM is the very first national battleship completely manufactured by Turkish engineers and workers.
Within the framework of the New Type Patrol Boat Project (NTPB) demanded by the Naval Forces Command, İŞBİR produces 16 sets of 2x325 kVA powered marine generator groups and the project is planned to continue until the beginning of 2014.
The manufacturing of these ships that will be used for reconnaissance, patrol and antisubmarine warfare in military harbors is one of the greatest projects realized by the private shipyards.
8 NTPBs were exported to Turkmenistan and this export is considered as the very first battleship export Turkey achieved since the Ottoman Empire. The aforementioned battleships are being built in Turkmenistan and their generators are produced by İŞBİR.
For Turkmenistan, in addition to these, İŞBİR produces 2x60 kVA powered marine generator groups for LCM assault boats and two marine generator groups (one 40 kVA and the other 60 kVA powered) for Towboat Project.
Two tank landing ships (LST) for the Naval Forces Command shall be built by ADİK Shipyard. For each ship, the agreement for a total of 8*1000 kVA and 2*350 kVA groups (including 4x1000 kVA + 350 kVA (Emergency)) was signed on 22.02.2013.
İŞBİR carries out major projects in Ground Systems Projects as well and continues the production of 29 groups to be utilized in the Fire Support Automation System (the ADOP Project) and 17 of them have been delivered by far.
Production of 162 sets for Gendarmerie Integrated Communication System (JEMUS Project) was initiated and the production of 58 sets was completed.
Within the scope of Roketsan 7414 - 8200 projects, production of 19 groups (composed of 3 Subway vehicles, 3 Maintenance vehicles, 6 Command vehicles, 7 Launching vehicles and 2 Test vehicles) for covering the demand of the Artillery Unit of the Land Forces commenced and the delivery of the generators for one Subway vehicle, one Maintenance vehicle and one Command vehicle was accomplished.

İŞBİR’s Major Investment in R&D
İŞBİR has started alternator production under Hitzinger License and continued its production activities with this license until 1984. As İŞBİR produces its own alternators, it gains competitive advantage among its rivals and creates an added value. Today İŞBİR, with its special winding machine, has the capacity to produce alternators up to 15 kVA automatically and 2000 kVA manually.
İŞBİR’s Alternators of Special Production:
Marine Type Alternators (MILGEM, YTKB, Coast Security Boats, etc.)
Military Type Alternators (Tasmus, Herikks, Jemus, etc.)
300–400 Hz Alternators (Ehtes etc.)
Alternators of Alternating Speed (Asep etc.)
Wagon Alternator (Tüvasaş Turkey, Tüvasaş Iraqk)
DC Alternator (Milkar)
Low-speed Alternator
R&D studies of all the alternators mentioned above have been accomplished and their production started. One of the ongoing R&D studies is the Silent Generator study. In this study, development of a water cooled and asynchronous alternator with reduced noise levels is aimed.
Alternators, Generators and Power Systems to be unveiled at IDEF
İŞBİR focuses on the alternator production and accelerated the studies for research, development, mechanization and modernization of alternators. These types of alternators will be exhibited in the fair. Our portable generator sets used in the small scaled businesses will also be displayed.
In addition to these products, the power systems produced specially for the military projects will be presented in the fair.
As İŞBİR, we are expecting the get positive feedbacks following the fair in which we will endeavor showing our will and determination regarding the domestic productivity of power systems used in national and military projects.
