Meteksan Reveals Retinar PTR
The meeting related to the introduction of the radar was held at the Ankara Bilkent Hotel with the attendance of Meteksan General Manager Mr. Murat Erciyes, Meteksan Deputy General Manager Mr. Selçuk Kerem Alparslan and many members of the press. Meteksan General Manager Murat Erciyes, giving explanations on the development process of the product and expressing that the product was developed in accordance with domestic and foreign demands, used the expression “We produced this radar using high technology and I think that we will be able to experience the happiness of export Retinar PTR in the future.”
Meteksan Deputy General Manager Mr. Selçuk Kerem Alparslan, providing information to the press about the product stated that by scanning at the point the radar is positioned, it establishes a security zone / region, also said “The radar can follow the motion in the region it is positioned by detailed examination and detect it. The radar providing very significant results including human and animal detection can provide the security of stations, camps, shores, critical plants like pipelines, energy centrals and airports. The design is compact and light. It is very suitable for the tactic field. As well as being portable it also has static and aerial configuration, and camera integrated configurations. He spoke as such; “We think that it is has a structure that can provide complete security in the region the mission is executed with this multi-configuration structure.” Alparslan,reminding that the radar can easily be carried by 2 persons, elaborated;”It has an interface that can be used very easily. It is controlled by lap top computers. You don’t need to be an expert operator. It can also be used from a tablet and a smart phone. Through the remote control interface you can control via wireless/transceiver. Apart from these, one of our major differences is that it has algorithms differentiating/detecting human being from animals. Detecting human beings using radars is one of the topics dealt frequently in recent years’ scientific literature. Especially thermal cameras and electro-optic systems have some deficiencies in detecting human beings. We can state that we have achieved very significant / important points by our works in this field. We constituted Retinar PTR as a result of this study. The product has been completely developed by Meteksan engineers genuinely. It has a numeric based architecture and can be adapted to different usage requirements with its authentic structure. Moreover, it is not dependent to any foreign body/ does not have any foreign dependency. “
Stating that the radar can scan up to 4 kilometers Alparslan said, “It makes it for the radar to be perceived and detected having a low frequency band and low power consumption. We made an effort to make the power consumption of the radar to be very low. You can operate it with two battery cartridges for almost 8 hours. This in turn gives you swiftness in the tactic field. “
Alparslan, stating that the needs of the Armed Forces and security units, the size of the market, and the volume were analyzed while developing the product said; “It is predicted that expenditures above 500 million dollars will be made in homeland security in the year 2018 globally. Within this context the path we want to follow, reach / achieve is still very long and deep. We are in detailed discussions with the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM), Ministry of National Defence, and service commands. It is a challenging process to transform a defence product into sales, and we entered that process. We are devoted to succeed by giving aggressive replies to the demands of the user.”
Retinar PTR Provides Security Region in Medium Range
The system stands out with enhanced user interface, compact structure, lightness and low power consumption. Having a total weight of twenty-five kilograms, it can be carried operationally by two persons and can be mounted within five minutes, providing medium range safe haven to its user. Retinar PTR, gives the opportunity to establish secure zone for in operational fields like border security, squad and force guard, and camp security of patrolling security personnel. At the same time the full mobility of Retinar PTR can be transported instantly to its users at critical plants like airports, ports, electric plants, pipe lines, refineries as in operational fields. Furnished with special algorithms for human detection Retinar PTR operates in Ka Band frequency and uses specialized shock – Doppler wave structure with its high signal processing/handling capacity. With this specification Retinar PTR can detect and follow mobile objects at the size of a human and an animal from a 4 km distance, as well as vehicles from a 10 km distance with minimum error.
Innovative Interface Provides Easy Usage
With its innovative interface of Retinar PTR, the user can operate the system effectively even without getting a radar operator education. With an empowered laptop computer using wires or wirelessly, Retinar PTR enables remote control / command opportunity to the operator for the system from a distance of up to 1 km. In addition to the laptop computer, tablets having special applications and smart phones can also communicate with the system wirelessly. Moreover, even when the operator or other personnel in the team are not using the system on a one to one basis/ personally, the system receives warning/ alert messages on its screen.
