MilSOFT Set New Term Strategies
Başyiğit: “We have studies for the establishment of companies in association with the local companies of several Middle and Far Eastern countries.”
MilSOFT, which has aimed to compete in high technology field with the most advanced companies in international arena by developing new indigenous technologies with its equity capital, is now preparing to make important investments abroad in the near future. Regarding the investments they planned İsmail Başyiğit stated: “As several special rights and privileges are granted to some countries’ companies at home and abroad, we are planning a restructuring particularly in the United States of America. Additionally, we are working on founding companies associated with the local companies focused on defense industry and software in Middle and Far Eastern countries.”
Mentioning the fact that their past investments as MilSOFT on R&D are bearing fruits now, Başyiğit elaborated that these investments were on command control, tactical data links and image processing. Moreover Başyiğit pointed out that besides the investments, studies regarding disaster management, integrated logistics systems over infrastructures developed by using enterprise technologies and development of network enabled capabilities were also in progress.
Great Advantage of MilSOFT products: “No License Restriction in Software”
MilSOFT General Manager Başyiğit underlined that all their software was developed nationally and without any license restrictions and talked about the software projects they developed: “From the very first day of MilSOFT’s establishment, we determined the areas of demand for developing indigenous technologies and launched R&D projects in such areas while focusing on developing our own technologies. As MilSOFT, we started working on the development of command control systems in 2000’s using the technology of that time and then developed a command control system in line with the new world standards determined by all leading defense companies of the world and by American Naval Forces’ laboratories. We have recently delivered our nationally manufactured command control system to the coast guard ship. Our secondary focus is on the tactical data link systems for supporting the operations in tactical sense that provide data transfer between naval, air and land platforms. We have been developing R&D projects in this field for long years and MilSOFT has developed a product allowing the exchange of tactical data between platforms and units having Tactical Data Link capabilities (namely Multiple Data Link Processor – Mil-DLP) by using the data link capability. Mil-DLP is being used in various projects. Firstly, we developed Link11 and Link16 data link software to be used in G-class frigates and are continuing the deliveries to G-class frigates successfully. Regarding our system, I would like to point out that it does not only provide the connection between the G-class frigates but also enables data exchange of our Air Forces with F-16 aircrafts. An additional capability we developed in a different field is that in direct procurement unmanned air vehicle project, MilSOFT has successfully delivered the portable image interpretation stations on the ground together with 3 shelters and 4 portable remote image stations by using sub-contractors and as of today these systems are being used with the unmanned air vehicles supplied within the scope of the direct procurement project. As the continuation of this project, within the scope of the nationally developed unmanned air vehicle project, MilSOFT developed the ground control of the image receivers over the aircraft, control of the communication lines and again by benefiting from a sub-contractor developed task planning systems of the aircraft and successfully delivered it to TAI and currently such functions of ANKA are achieved by GÖRSİS system developed by MilSOFT. Moreover, we developed capabilities regarding the electronic warfare. Within this framework we developed the infrastructure and software of an electronic warfare training simulation software that enables the training of over 2000 electronic warfare officers of the Armed Forces and delivered them to the Armed Forces. Furthermore we established laboratories that allow the programming of our Naval Forces Command’s electronic warfare and enable their testing in the ground and completed their delivery. Besides we developed an infrastructure within the scope of the network centric capability for wide area usage. Using this infrastructure, we developed capabilities such as logistic systems, disaster management and delivered them to our customers and we are currently continuing the marketing operations.”
MilSOFT’s National Geographic Information System to be used in the SGRS Project
Within the scope of the Coast Surveillance Radar Systems (SGRS) project of which the first phase was actualized with the agreement and that enables the 7/24 monitoring of all the coasts of Turkey via radar and electro-optical sensors, MilSOFT will assume a significant and critic role. MilSOFT will be responsible for an important part of the software of the system that shall be established in the center. Başyiğit stated that MilSOFT was assuming a prominent task in this project once again with its network supported capabilities developed to be used in the wide area and continued: “In addition to our responsibility for the software of the system to be established at the center, our own national geographical information system, which is being used at various projects such as command control, data links or image intelligence station, we have a completely nationally designed and developed geographic information system used in command control, data links and image station, will also be used within SGRS project.
Başyiğit: “We have significant capabilities in IT”
Mentioning that MilSOFT also realized significant studies in IT field Başyiğit said: “Owing to the infrastructure that we have developed in IT field named Turkuaz, the systems developed by using Turkuaz will be able to operate together seamlessly. Briefly, the systems developed with such infrastructures and systems used by various institutions will be able to transfer data flawlessly. Furthermore, at the moment we have the capabilities that could facilitate the information exchange and interoperability of the various information systems of diverse institutions via this infrastructure. We expect these capabilities of MilSOFT, which operates in World’s top standards in defense and software development fields, to be used by civil e-government and other areas of the civil sector.”
A Special Team for the Struggle against Cyber Attacks
Başyiğit mentioned that the threats and attacks were increasing globally and commented on the cyber-attacks threatening the defense companies and institutions and added that MilSOFT has been focusing on these and all necessary precautions started to be taken against such attacks. Başyiğit continued: “There are studies in several dimensions regarding this area and MilSOFT launched its studies in all these aspects. Firstly, all measures in order to make all the software developed by MilSOFT more resistant to these cyber-attacks are being taken. We are taking precautions both for preventing the attacks and for avoiding our software to be invaded by unauthorized people. This is the first and most important issue we emphasize. Secondly, we are conducting studies to create more secure environments where MilSOFT software operates that could be sold to various institutions as a service or a product. We have built a team to this end and been continuing the teamwork. As you would also appreciate, we believe that these are very sensitive issues and beyond providing our products’ resistance to cyber-attacks, governmental guidance and coordination and assignment of relevant authorities are of vital importance.”
