With the National Corvette-Milgem Project, STM is successfully playing the role it has undertaken within the scope of ensuring that the relevant industrial potential of Turkey is used realistically and intensively, supporting the development of the industry in terms of adapting new technologies to military applications, and transferring the knowledge and experience of the Turkish Naval Forces to private sector industrialists; and with its young and skilled engineering team and its staff experienced in combat surface ships and submarines, STM is greatly honoured and proud to serve Turkish Naval Forces on platform basis.

STM undertook the procurement of material, sub-system, equipment procurement and design services to Turkish Navy and supply of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) services, except main propulsion and combat systems of TCG Heybeliada and Büyükada, the first and second ships of the “Milgem (National Ship)” Corvette Project.

STM; joined forces with over 200 companies, considering the 80 subcontractors with which it has been working for almost 7 years and all the other companies working with these subcontractors, for the first ship of Milgem, TCG Heybeliada, which was commissioned in September 2011. Most of the materials, equipment and systems supplied by STM for the Milgem Project are not ‘off the shelf’ products. Great efforts were spent to bring the relevant organizations of Turkish industry, which, before the Milgem Project, did not have much familiarity with production of the platform systems/devices at required military and naval standards; and many of the subsystems,devices and materials to be used in the ships were developed& tested&certified alongside the Milgem project.
