Established in 1948, the Chemical Plant „NITRO-CHEM „ Joint Stock Company, a member of the Ammunition Division of Bumar Group is an experienced and globally renowned Polish producer of explosives and ammunition.
The Chemical Plant „NITRO-CHEM” supplies its products to the Polish Army and to another foreign armies around the world and gradually develops cooperation with world leaders in the defense market.

“NITRO-CHEM” is a leader of TNT production in Europe. Owned installation allow to produce TNT and DNT on the same line in a large scale in quality meeting the customer requirement, system for precise dosing of raw materials and the verified production technology ensure high quality parameters of the finished product. Therefore our TNT meets the requirements of both Polish and foreign standards, including MIL, TL and STANAG. “NITRO-CHEM” has also one of the most modern installations for HMX and RDX production in this part of the world. The installation obtains the best usage of raw materials, energy saving, high quality and repeatability of products. Those requirements were met in full, achieving, amongst the others, the material purity at the level of min. 98% for octogene and min. 97% for hexogene, in accordance with the MIL series standards. During the recrystallisation process in that installation different grain size classes of material are obtained, and the product received may then be phlegmatised with, for example, waxes or fluoroelastomers. With the ability to manufacture these high explosives material, “NITRO-CHEM” offers a compositions based on RDX and HMX e.g. Comp. B, Comp, A-3, Comp. A-4, Comp. A-5, compositions with wax or Vition and other like TNT/PETN, TRITONAL. Since 2010 “NITRO-CHEM” has got a pilot installation for production of new insensitive explosive material such as CL-20 and NTO.
“NITRO-CHEM” offers a wide range of opportunities for ammunition elaboration services. Possessed technological background, rich knowledge and experience let us to prepare and processing elements of ammunition for different purposes. “NITRO-CHEM” is able to press charges in the range of a few to several thousand grams, fill in bodies of artillery ammunition employing screw threading method in caliber from 60 to 160mm and makes individual charges or fill in shells using cast method. Charges can be made in a wide range weights (from less than kilogram), and of different material e.g. TNT, TGAF-5 composition, B-composition, etc.
The company’s current range of those products includes, amongst the others, 120 mm ammunition in accordance with NATO standards, and 122mm, 125mm and 152mm calibres and also aerial FRAG-HE bomb LBOB-100.
“NITRO-CHEM” provides body shell filling services to the other Bumar Group companies and Polish or foreign manufacturers by doing, inter alia, pressed blocks of explosive material for scatterable mines, minidetonators for fuses or elaborate by cast method of filling bodies of side-action mines.
“NITRO-CHEM” offers TNT pressed boosters used for boosting insensitive explosives e.g. ANFO or both as a separate charges in opencast mining and in the field of geophysics. It’s also used in the performance of specialized blasting works. Thanks to the modern installation for boosters production, the company is able to meet different customers requirements, adapting to their expectations.
“NITRO-CHEM” is able to provide the customers with technological solutions based on machinery and equipment produced by several different manufacturers. In this way “NITRO-CHEM” is able to create a customized and a unique combination that optimizes the production process from the technological and economic point of view. It is their sole responsibility to ensure that the machinery and equipment provided is tuned to the manufacturing needs of their customers and is mutually compatible. “NITRO-CHEM” takes utmost care in the selection of machinery and equipment for a particular manufacturing purpose.
The youngest installation, built in 2011, is an installation for production of plastic films. The modern highly automated machines allow to achieve the annual productivity at the level of 4500 T of films of various thicknesses, designated for production of packaging and laminates. The production technology developed for us covers several types of film, both for standard and for special applications.
