Since 1988, NOVA Power Solutions has been delivering continuous power quality protection to global defence and industrial markets, working closely with customer project teams to ensure solutions fully meet stringent program requirements for mission-critical applications. The company has built a strong reputation as a premier provider of ruggedized Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Power Conditioners, and Battery Backup Modules, with more than 40,000 units deployed worldwide in the harshest operational environments. Its solutions safeguard systems where uptime and reliability are absolutely non-negotiable.

At IDEF ‘25, NOVA Power Solutions introduced the Tactical Edge Family of Systems to Türkiye for the very first time. Designed to provide rugged power supplies, protection, and backup capabilities for forward-deployed electronic systems, the family includes both vehicle-mounted and mobile infantry configurations. Speaking with Defence Turkey Magazine, Brian E. KNIGHT, Business Development Manager at NOVA Power Solutions, outlined the motivation and technology behind the debut.

“Traditionally, NOVA Power has been very strong in the naval market for shipboard applications, both in Türkiye and globally,” KNIGHT explained. “But there was a clear need for ground forces to have access to the same quality of power conditioning, conversion, and battery backup in the field. That’s why we developed the Tactical Edge line — to fill that market gap.”

The showcased systems share a common power output but differ in form factor. The vehicle version is designed for 19-inch rack mount solutions, making it adaptable for transit cases, truck racks, shelter racks, or even standalone deployment. “You can fit two side-by-side in a rack or combine one unit with radio systems, small data communication modules, or mobile computing systems,” KNIGHT said.

The Tactical Edge system also offers flexible power outputs, tailored to user requirements. “We have three outputs in the baseline configuration, but this can be customized depending on the mission,” KNIGHT noted. Importantly, the systems are fully operational — not prototypes. “This unit here is operational today. We’ve already completed the designs, drawings, and even prototypes. One model was shipped as a shell for display convenience, but the technology is ready.”

Developed with SWaP principles (Size, Weight, and Power) in mind, the Tactical Edge units are engineered to deliver maximum power in the lightest possible package. With worldwide input voltage capability, they can operate anywhere in the world, making them ideal for global deployments.

For NOVA Power, IDEF ‘25 marks the Turkish debut of the Tactical Edge Family. While the systems have not yet been field-demonstrated for the Turkish Armed Forces, Süleyman BAYRAMOĞLU, NOVA Power Solutions Business Development Manager for EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) has introduced the concept during earlier innovation phases. With the recent establishment of NOVA Türkiye (NOVA Technical Support Center in Ankara), the company is well-positioned to provide not only delivery but also local maintenance and support.

“Our approach ensures that the componentry is familiar to field technicians,” KNIGHT emphasized. “That makes servicing straightforward, whether it’s the batteries, electronic components, or overall system support. NOVA Türkiye has the capability to maintain and service these units locally.”

In addressing Türkiye’s sensitivity to defence supply chain restrictions, KNIGHT clarified a key point: the Tactical Edge systems are ITAR-Free, classified as commercial products, and therefore free from export restrictions.

By bringing its Tactical Edge Family to Türkiye, NOVA Power Solutions has signaled a strong commitment to supporting both local and regional defence requirements with rugged, reliable, and ITAR-Free mission-critical power solutions.
