RST: Excellence Through Experience
The main goal of RST (Remote Sensing Technologies) is to generate rapid solutions in response to varying needs of its customers, with use of modern engineering techniques. For this purpose, RST designs, develops and produces value-added, genuine and high-quality software/hardware/systems with an advanced technology, especially in the areas of Radio-Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) based sensor technologies, Radar Systems, Satellite Systems and Electronic Warfare (EW) Simulators.
RST is a product-oriented company operating in the electronics, defense, space and aeronautics industries in the civil and military areas. A team with a vast experience in engineering management and project implementation and with a strong commercial background has come together to form RST, with the main target marketbeing Turkey and the countries within the neighbor geographical areas.
One of the objectives of RST is to minimize the product development cycle with the support of local and global solution-partners. By the implementation of a product-oriented systems engineering approach, the company targets to generate for its customers rapid and effective solutions in its areas of knowledge and expertise, in conformance with the national and international standards. Another objective of RST is to fulfill its responsibilities in an effective and dependable way and by exceeding customer expectations every time.
RST also provides consultancy and support for systems engineering, software/hardware/system design and integration activitiesand system/subsystem level test infrastructure development, related with its areas of expertise.
Currently the Multiband Threat Emitter Simulator Project is carried out in RST and various other projects in the areas of RF and EO based sensor technologies, Radar Systems, Satellite Systems and EW Simulators are being put into action.
The objectives of the Multiband Threat Emitter Simulator Project are to simulate the multiple threat environment in EW studies, to generate long-range threat warnings in maneuvers and trainings, to evaluate performance of sensor systems in airplanes in complex environments, to enable the performance of pilot trainings in a realistic way by generation of electromagnetic environment close to operational conditions and to perform detection tests of the EW equipment in airplanes for the related threat. The Simulator will be able to generate the signal composition of the simulated threat radar in a realistic way and able to be programmed as tracking, missile guidance or illuminating radar.
In other projects put into action, RST is focusing on the development of critical technologies, subsystems, units and components of the systems being developed and achieving the essential know-how for design and production of these critical building blocks. Such forthcoming critical building blocks include microwave and millimeter-wave technologies for the front-end and transmitter/receiver units, as well as the signal processing units of sensor systems. RST is currently collaborating with a number of local and global solution-partners in these projects. However, the company is also making substantial investment in these areas to establish the engineering infrastructure and the necessary human resources to carry out such projects by itself.
The primary focus of RST in RF systems area is to provide RF systems engineering activities. For this purpose, RST became capable of establishing the requirements of RF subsystems, such as receivers and transmitters with their up-conversion and down-conversion chains, for RF sensors. In the design part of RF subsystems; RST establishes required module properties according to relevant subsystem needs, procures modules accordingly, and provides integration activities between individual RF modules. Integration of RF subsystems with other system elements is another expertise area for the company. RST can provide these integration activities in between antennas and the RF parts of the system or in between RF parts and the signal processing parts of the system, in its laboratory infrastructure for RF system level testing. In the near future, it is planned to further enhance its organizational capabilities, and to design building blocks of RF systems by own proficiencies.
RST is building high-performance digital signal processing solutions for applications such as RF and EO sensor systems with the ability to integrate and develop solutions in house. RST is utilizing all kinds of modern signal processing technologies including FPGA and DSP. The company carries out all necessary design methodologies such as modeling, simulation, implementation and third-party IP core integration for developing signal processing solutions, and accelerates product development cycle by using its own laboratory and high technology test equipment.
Recently, a modern signal processing platform is successfully integrated using COTS boards and tested in both laboratory and field for the multi-purpose signal processing requirements. RST also has the ability to develop challenging embedded systems using cutting edge technologies. Real-time operating system (RTOS) is used in projects to create more stable applications. In the near future, RST aims to design generic and custom electronic boards in house which will enable to create custom solutions and satisfy various customer needs. RST is currently building its electronic board development infrastructure for this purpose.
Another focus area of the company is EO sensors, i.e. IR sensor subsystems for military and commercial use. RST is making investments and carrying out projects in this area in order to fulfill some specific current and forthcoming needs in Turkey.
