TESTFUCHS

The company TEST-FUCHS was founded in 1946 in Austria. Today, still a family owned business in its third generation, it has an international reputation for high quality test-equipment for aircraft components and ground support equipment. Next to our main quarters in Austria we have branches in Germany, Italy and in the UK and have a total of employees of 300. We have produced test stands for over 90 different aircraft types so far and our test equipment can be found all over the world.

We are specialists in the design and manufacture of:

• ground support equipment for the civil and military aerospace market (88%)
• fuel and lubrication pumps for aircraft, helicopters and tanks (8.5%)
• repair and overhaul of engine components (2.5%)
• cryogenic valves for the Ariane Vspace programme (1%)

The figures given in parenthesis indicate the proportion of turnover.

We support all our products from the cradle to the grave in all aspects. With the delivery we provide full installation and commissioning, technical publication and spare lists, training both operator and maintenance as required, calibration, on call support, and spares.

To ensure that our main customers are adequately supported in country we have established our branches in Germany, Italy and the UK. This ensures that support functions will be managed by native speakers, thus ensuring that the customer has a reliable point of contact who can expedite his wishes. Our work is not finished with the delivery of the unit. TESTFUCHS post design service includes:

• Custody and up-dating of drawings, software and technical publications
• On-call support
• Defect investigation
• Modifications required by the customer or due to UUT modifications
• Test stand calibration
• Test stand maintenance
• Test stand repair
• Carrying out additional engineering tasks when required
• Obsolescence control.

The company philosophy was strongly influenced by the post-world war conditions at its foundation in 1946 and very much reflects the company founder’s personal opinions which were: self-reliance and quality, both in design and manufacture, the establishment and maintenance of good customer and supplier relations, together with reliable product support for the life of the equipment. Special emphasis is also laid on further staff education at all levels and innovative thinking. We have a research department solely devoted to investigating new methodology in testing, and the adoption and implementation of modern technology including a computer control system, that allows the customer to generate test programmes for the units under test directly, by using the control panel and keyboard. This does not require any source code changes. We incorporate a MODEM into any computercontrolled equipment thus allowing troubleshooting and updates to be made from the main company in Austria.

Our management philosophy comprises a well defined management structure, with each project having an integrated project manager. The test equipment is designed and produced to the customer’s needs and wishes.

The customer is included at all stages in the project team, thus ensuring that the end product meets his requirements for testing, accuracy, test repeatability, reliability, maintainability, supportability and payment profile.

We can rely on many years of experience, a high proportion of in-house production and highly qualified staff.

The staff fluctuation within the company is extremely low.

Being a specialist in the filed of test equipment we design and manufacture computer controlled equipment or manual for components in :

Hydraulic Systems - motors, pumps and actuators both rotary and linear etc.

Fuel Systems - pumps, valves, engine fuel control units etc.

Pneumatic Systems – motors, valves hot and cold operation high and low flow etc.

Mechanical Systems – actuators, drive shafts, gearboxes etc.

Electrical Systems – generators, generator control units etc.

Our customers can be found in the military as well as in the civil sector. We have supplied, and are supplying GSE to the Royal Air Force, the German Luftwaffe, the Swiss Air Force, the Austrian Air Force, the Spanish Air Force, the Brazilian Air Force, the Italian Air Force, as well as the leading European Airlines like British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian, Alitalia etc. and aircraft and components manufacturers e.g. BAE Systems, EADS, Airbus, Alenia, RUAG etc.

Traditionally TEST-FUCHS is a manufacturer of test equipment that is tailored to the customer’s needs and wishes. Every test bench is a unique piece of work. But since TEST-FUCHS is always looking for new challenges we used our experience and knowledge to create a new range of products. TESTFUCHS now offers so called commercials of the shelf, including Hydraulic Ground Power Units, Test Equipment for Cooling Systems for civil and military aircraft, electrical standard units like Bonding Tester, Insulation Tester; Test Equipment for Emergency Systems like RAM-Air turbines, Anti- Skid Test Systems or Test Equipment for Engine Parameters. These standardized test tools have the advantage of extremely short delivery times, maintaining at the same time the high quality standard of TEST-FUCHS.

Our high quality is reflected in the numerous certifications our company can be proud of, among which the most important are DIN EN ISO 9001:2000, AQAP2110, EASA Part- 145, EASA Part 21, DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, EN729-3 etc. The best proof of our quality is maybe the fact that the oldest TEST-FUCHS test stand still in service, a Generator Test Stand is more than 30 years old, and still working.
