Turkey Showcases Cutting-Edge Land Systems at Eurosatory
The Eurosatory 2016 event was held this year on 13-17 June in Paris, France. 213 official delegations from 94 countries participated in the organization attended by 1,572 participants from 56 countries and 57,018 followers from 151 countries. Turkey attended this year’s event with more than 20 defense industry companies with the contribution of the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries and the Defense Industry Exporters’ Association.
Turkey was represented by an official delegation under the presidency of Deputy National Defense Minister Mr. Şuay Alpay at the Eurosatory 2016 and the Turkish pavilion was composed of the following companies: Aselsan, Elsis Electronic Systems, Garanti Giyim Kompozit, Katmerciler, Makel, MKEK, Menatek, Hightech Port by MÜSİAD, OSSA, Öztek Tekstil, Repkon Machine and Tool Industry Trade INC, Tepaş, Transvaro, Yakupoğlu, Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV), TDA and SSM. Furthermore, Roketsan, Otokar and BMC companies from Turkey displayed their products amongst the major foreign companies with their impressive stand areas.
Otokar demonstrated the Tulpar-S Tracked Armored Combat Vehicle at this year’s event for the first time, while BMC demonstrated the new generation “Kirpi” MRAP vehicles. Meanwhile, Katmerciler Company were considered amongst the new players of the Military Land Vehicles exhibiting the TOMA Anti-Riot Vehicle and K.Han D 4x4 Armored Personnel Carrier vehicles.
Roketsan, one of Turkey’s most active companies, on behalf of Turkey, signed two crucial MoUs with Airbus and Junghang Defence company on the first and second day of the event. Moreover, the company hosted many high level delegations; Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Şuay Alpay, France Defense Minister, the Argentine Chief of General Staff, and Pakistan’s Head of Armed Forces Procurement Department. In addition, one of Brazil’s leading companies, Condor Tecnologias Nao-Letais (CONDOR) and Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the event with the participation of the official delegations for the development of new generation pyrotechnic products composed of CS chemical utilized in the production of tear-gas products.
Deputy National Defense Minister Mr. Şuay Alpay made a statement regarding the event to the defense magazines and stated that they aimed to demonstrate their existence to the whole world with over 20 Turkish Defense Industry companies, institutions, associations and delegations at the Eurosatory event which is considered to be one of the most important events in the world and continued: “All our assigned institutions and companies were well prepared to this end. We made very efficient and critical negotiations at the event and gathered with the delegations from Japan, America and Italy. We also made some contacts with the French delegation for future collaborations. No concrete issues were brought to the agenda yet we conveyed to them our message, indicating our will to collaborate on the development of critical systems such as UAV systems”.
Regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious events, the next Eurosatory is planned to be held on 11-15 June 2018.
